As a result of social transformations such as the fourth industrial revolution, the civic competency sought by social studies is evolving gradually. In this study, computational thinking as a core competency of the fourth industrial revolution was applied to the instructional model in social studies. First, the characteristics of computational thinking and the foundation of social studies education converged to establish a instructional model for computational thinking in social studies. The model for teaching computational thinking in social studies consisted of 'problem-datadecomposition- pattern-rule-application,' which was split into unplugged and plugged models, and lesson plans were built. To confirm the validity of the created instructional model and lesson plans, a validity test was conducted with 10 experts, and the instructional model was modified depending on the findings. In order to strengthen the validity of the instructional model for computing thinking in social studies, the development of additional lesson plans and verification of instructional effectiveness should continue.

4차 산업혁명과 같은 사회 변화에 따라 사회과에서 추구하는 시민 역량도 함께 변화하고 있다. 본 연구 에서는 4차 산업혁명 시대의 핵심 역량 중 하나로 컴퓨팅 사고를 사회과 수업모형에 적용하였다. 먼저, 컴퓨팅 사고의 특징과 사회과교육의 본질을 융합하여 사회과에서 추구하는 컴퓨팅 사고 수업모형을 개발하였다. 사 회과에서 컴퓨팅 사고 수업모형은 ‘문제-데이터-분해-패턴-규칙-적용’의 절차로 구성하였고, 언플러그드 모형과 플러그드 모형으로 구분하여 실제 수업에 적용할 수 있는 수업 사례를 개발하였다. 개발한 수업모형과 수업사 례의 타당도를 확보하기 위해 전문가 10인에게 검사를 실시하였으며 이를 바탕으로 수정 및 보완하였다. 향후 사회과에서 컴퓨팅 사고 수업모형의 타당성 강화를 위하여 추가적인 수업사례의 개발 및 수업 효과 검증이 뒤 따라야 하겠다.
