This paper aims at examining how the theme is embodied in the Chinese translation of Kim Ji-young, born 1982, a Korean feminist novel. What is important in translating a feminist novel is to fully understand and properly embody the theme of the original work. With this respect, this study firstly analyzed whether the peritexts of the translation affect the embodiment of the theme. Subsequently, the embodiment of the theme through characterization was examined based on the translation cases on the female characters. As a result of analysis, it was found that the various peritexts contained in the Chinese translation had a positive effect on the embodiment of the theme, and that the translator was actively engaged in interpreting the meaning of the original work and tried to translate it accordingly. In addition, it was confirmed that editors and publishers as well as the translators made a lot of effort to publish and translate feminist novels.
