This study began an academic concern upon various phenomenological aspects of mystical experiences in the church history in relation to Christian Spirituality. In many cases, mystical experiences such as ecstasy have been in a very special epistemological status in the process of Christian spirituality which functions a motivational power for a better understanding of spirituality itself. However, mystical experiences also often became some negative roles which prohibited an appropriate contribution to the a right construction of spiritual education for the future generation. Due to such complex situation concerning mystical experiences with Christian spirituality, this study primarily focuses on the mutual interrelationship between mystical experiences and rational understanding. Throughout this mutuality, this study tries to reveal some invisible features of mystical experiences which has been deeply intertwined to the historical agonies of a certain existential moment and its rational process of interpretation to explain the causality of such suffering. Without those series of rational explanation, diverse insights in mystical experiences would not be made and many malfunctions of mystical experiences within the Korean Churches could not be eliminated. If this bad context will continue, a healthy and necessary recovery of Christian spirituality for the Korean churches will be impossible so a theological task to prepare a proper educational process for the future generation in the Korean Churches will be requested including this study.

기독교 영성에 관한 집중 연구가 시작된 이후, 고차원적 학문을 지향하는 이들은 하나님과 인류 사이의 본질적 차이에 집중하는 유념적 영성(긍정신학)과 무념적 영성 (부정신학)의 구별을 선호했다. 또 다른 한편에서 논리적 언어와 개념을 강조한 이성 적 이해와 봉사와 섬김을 지향하는 감성적 사랑의 표현을 통해 영성의 핵심가치를 파 악하는 시도 또한 통용되었다. 협소한 방식만으로 영성의 특징을 충분히 드러낼 수 없음을 깨달은 이들은 양자의 결합으로 영성을 설명하는 한편, 여러 유형의 교차와 융합을 활발히 수용한 셈이다. 하지만 영성이 지닌 초월적이고 추상적 특성은 이처럼 다양한 방법론의 활용을 무 색하게 만들 만큼 명료한 개념 정립을 어렵게 만들면서, 영성에 관한 기준과 세부 활 용방안의 도출에 혼동을 일으키는 직접적인 원인으로 작용했다. 그런데 이처럼 한계 로 지적되는 영성의 포괄적이고 애매한 현상이 긍정적 요소로 전환되는 역설에 영성 의 진정한 가치와 효력이 잠재한다. 즉 이성적 논리와 개념으로 정리하기 난해한 초월적 측면이 이성 영역의 발전을 견인하는 창조적 원리와 개혁의 동력으로 작용한다 는 뜻이다. 결론적으로 신학적 논리와 개념으로 정리되는 기독교 영성의 특징을 고려 하면, 신비하고 초월적 체험을 전제하는 영성과 합리적 이성 사이의 역설적 공존과 협력은 피할 수 없는 과제이며 이를 통해 영성의 점진적 발전이 가능하다는 사실 또 한 긍정적으로 수용하게 된다. 본 연구는 영성이 지니는 그와 같은 특성에 주목하여 신비체험에 관한 집중적 연 구를 통해 영성연구 방식에 내포된 의도와 취지 및 구조적 특색을 미래지향적 교육으 로 승화하는 절차를 밟았다. 그리고 이런 일련의 과정을 묘사하기 위해 신비체험의 구성요소와 한국교회에 발생한 사례를 서술한 후, 그 내용을 이성적 이해와 비교함으 로써 영성의 특성을 설명하려고 노력하였다. 이런 절차를 거쳐 신비체험을 통해 형성 되는 기독교 영성 교육이 단순히 성경 가르침을 향한 맹목적 복종이나 무미건조한 이 론적 명제 도출 또는 현실 도피적 내세 지향 사상이나 특정인에 대한 반사회적 숭배 가 아니라는 점을 서술하였다. 아울러 신비체험이 하나님에 관한 신학적 성찰과 인간 의 존재론적 가치 및 윤리적 방향 그리고 교육적 성격을 종합적으로 창조하는 건설적 작업이 되어야 할 당위성 또한 중점적으로 역설했다.
