The purpose of this study is to find the future direction of Korea creative dance drama. The tales are used as contents that contain Korean traditional culture and sentiment. Also tales can make bond of sympathy from the past to the present. So, this study is focused on value of tales that can be expanded endless. To develop the Korea creative dance drama, there is need to analyze it in various fields. Especially, this study is focused on storytelling. This study selected ‘Tales of Ho-dong’ as main subject that is used as OSMU(One Source Multi-Use) from the past, and checked how the text converted to dance by studying the transition of ‘Original text → Script → Dance drama’ in creative dance drama . I found the value of tales as source in dance drama, need of storytelling based on tales, and importance of director in transforming text into dance. The dance drama contents reflect culture trends that change continuously, so the study of dance drama contents have to be investigated continuously in various aspects. In particular, the development of Korea dance drama is closely related with popularity of Korean dance and estabilishment of national brand, so it is worth to be studied. I hope this study can be significant for future direction and development of Korea creative dance drama based on traditional tales.

본 연구는 한국적 창작무용극의 미래 방향성을 모색하고자 하는 데 목적이 있다. 설화는 한국의 문화 를 담고 있고 민족적 정서를 포함하고 있는 콘텐츠로서 다양하게 활용되고 있다. 또한, 설화는 과거부터 존재하여 현대에 이르기까지 한국 대중들에게 가장 익숙하게 공감을 일으킬 수 있는 스토리다. 이에, 본 연구는 다양한 콘텐츠의 원천소재로서 무궁무진하게 활용할 수 있는 설화에 주목했다. 또한, 본 연구에 서는 대중성을 갖춘 한국적 창작무용극의 발전을 위해 여러 방면의 분석 필요성을 가지고, 스토리텔링에 집중하여 연구했다. 특히, 과거부터 현재까지 OSMU(One Source Multi-Use)로 활용되고 있는 ‘호동설화’ 를 선정하여 이를 바탕으로 창작무용극 <그 하늘 그 북소리>에서의 ‘원작 텍스트 → 무용극을 위한 대본 → 무용극로 구현’되는 과정을 통해 텍스트가 춤으로 어떻게 변용되었는지를 파악하였다. 무용극에서 설 화가 가지는 소재로서의 가치와 이를 기반으로 한 스토리텔링의 필요성 및 텍스트를 춤으로 구현하는 과 정에서의 연출자의 중요성 또한 확인할 수 있었다. 무용극 콘텐츠는 계속 변화하는 문화 트렌드를 반영 해야 하는 장르이기 때문에 다양한 방면에서 심층적인 연구가 지속되어야 한다. 특히, 한국적 무용극의 발전은 한국무용의 대중성뿐만 아니라 국가브랜드 구축과도 밀접하게 연결되어 있기에 연구의 가치가 있다. 본 연구가 향후 전통 설화를 중심으로 한 한국적 창작무용극의 발전과 미래 방향성에 대하여 제시 할 수 있는 자료로써 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.
