This paper is a basic study to find citation education methods that can improve the -ability to source use- in the academic writing curriculum for foreign students. Currently, citation education for foreign students has been conducted to emphasize the formal aspects of citation, including the provision of bibliographic information. While presenting bibliographic information correctly and organizing data according to the format of citation is clearly an important factor, this passive citation education does not help foreign students develop their -ability to source use�and further understand how to quote. Thus, this study examins how cited education was performed in the course of academic writing education by analyzing academic writing textbooks for foreign students. Specifically, this study analyzed 1) whether practical educational contents were included to understand the purpose and necessity of citation, 2) how the educational contents for citation methods were presented, 3) whether specific writing strategies, sentence patterns, and expressions that can be used in citation writing were explained, and 4) whether writing methods such as summarizing and interchanging are addressed together in the citation education process. Based on these textbook analysis results, this study found the limitations of current citation education and suggested the future direction of education.

본고는 외국인 유학생을 위한 학문 목적 글쓰기 교육 과정 내에서 ‘자료 사용 능력’을 향상시킬 수 있는 인용 교육 방안을 모색하기 위한 기초연구이다. 현재 외국인 유학생을 위한 인용 교육은 서지 정보 제공을 비롯한 인용의 형식적 측면을 강조하는 차원에서 시행되어 왔다. 서지 정보를 올바르게 제시하고 인용의 형식에 맞게 자료를 정리하는 것이 연구 윤리 강화와 표절 방지를 위한 중요한 요인임은 분명하지만 이러한 소극적인 인용 교육은 학습자들의 ‘자료 사용 능력’을 키우고 더 나아가 ‘자료 기반 글쓰기 전략’으로서의 인용 방법을 이해하는 데 도움을 주지 못한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 기존의 학문 목적 글쓰기 교재를 분석함으로써 학문목적 글쓰기 교육 과정에서 인용 교육이 어떻게 이루어졌는지를 검토하였다. 구체적으로는 인용의 목적과 필요성을 이해할 수 있는 실질적인 교육 내용이 포함되었는지, 인용 방식에 대한 교육 내용을 어떻게 제시하였는지, 인용문 쓰기에서 활용할 수 있는 구체적인 글쓰기 전략이나 문형, 표현 등을 설명하고 있는지를 분석하였다. 이러한 교재 분석 결과를 바탕으로 현재의 인용 교육의 한계를 찾고 앞으로의 교육 방향을 제안하였다.
