We analyzed the research trends of domestic elementary mathematics education by examining 1,377 articles published in KCI journals with the topic modeling method. The findings indicated that there were six broad areas and 15 topics which consisted of mathematical content(fraction, statistics education, number and operation, geometry), mathematical process(problem-solving, reasoning), textbook and curriculum(textbook analysis, curriculum analysis), teacher and teaching(teaching practice, pre-service teacher education), students’ characteristics and misunderstanding(gifted education, misunderstanding, students’ cognitive and affective factors), assessment and effectiveness(assessment, effectiveness validation research). In addition, research on statistics education, textbook analysis, curriculum analysis was increased over time, whereas research on problem-solving, effectiveness validation research was decreased over time. We discussed practical implications and future studies for the development of domestics elementary mathematics education based on the findings.

본 연구는 국내 초등수학교육 연구가 어떠한 방향으로 수행되어 왔는지 체계적으 로 살펴보고자, 2001년부터 2020년까지 KCI 등재(후보)지에 게재된 1,377편의 초등 수학교육 관련 논문을 토픽 모델링으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 시기별로 공통 키워 드들이 출현하여 일관된 연구 흐름을 보였으며, 빈도순으로 최상위 키워드는 ‘문 제’, ‘교과서’, ‘교육과정’으로 나타났다. 또한 초등수학교육은 수학적 내용 (분수, 통계교육, 수와 연산, 도형), 수학적 과정(문제해결, 추론), 교과서 및 교육과 정(교과서 분석, 교육과정 분석), 교사 및 교수(교수 관행, 예비교사 교육), 학생 특 성 및 오개념(영재교육, 오개념, 학생의 인지적ㆍ정의적 요인), 평가 및 효과성 검증 (평가, 효과성 검증 연구)의 6개 범주의 15개 토픽으로 분류할 수 있었다. 이 중 통 계적으로 연구 비중이 증가한 토픽은 ‘통계교육’, ‘교과서 분석’, ‘교육과정 분석’으로 나타났으며, 연구 비중이 감소한 토픽은 ‘문제해결’과 ‘효과성 검증 연구’로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 향후 국내 초등수학교육의 발전 방향과 후속 연구에 대한 시사점을 도출하였다.
