This study discusses prefixes of fish names such as ‘Tteok-, Puland Dol-’ and nouns ‘barley, tree and feces’, and their semantic characteristics. There are meanings that are not presented in dictionaries in names of fish while they do not appear in general words. The analysis on the meanings of indicates that the meanings of these that are not presented in dictionaries can be compensated, and that these are at the ambiguous boundary between derivative and compound words. This is caused by the fact that Korean dictionaries have been published mostly based on agriculture related vocabularies, which has resulted in the lack of fish related affixes in the dictionaries. This discussion is expected to help to establish Korean vocabulary structure and to make Korean dictionaries be rich in vocabulary. In addition, the discussion on the ambiguous parts of derivative and compound words will provide other implications to research on affixes.

이 글은 어류 명칭에 나타난 접두사 ‘떡-, 풀-, 돌-’과 명사 ‘보리, 나무, 똥’을 대상으로 이들의 의미적 특징을 논의하였다. 일반적인 단어와 달리 어획물 명칭에서는 사전상에 제시되지 않은 의미를 찾아볼 수 있었다. 이러한 부분에 초점을 두어 접두사 ‘떡-, 풀-, 돌-’과 명사 ‘보리, 나무, 똥’의 의미를 분석함으로써 사전에 등재되지 않은 의미를 보완하 였고, 이들이 파생어와 합성어의 모호한 경계에 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그동안 국어 사전이 농촌 관련 어휘들을 중심으로 편찬되었고, 이로 인해 어획물에 나타나는 접사의 다양한 양상을 담지 못한 결과로 판단된다. 그런 점에서 이와 같은 논의는 국어 어휘 체계 를 수립하고 국어 사전의 어휘장이 풍부해지는 데 도움이 되리라 본다. 또 파생어와 합성 어의 모호한 부분에 대한 논의는 접사 연구에 대한 다른 시사점을 주리라 생각한다.
