This study aims to analyze how the socialization of novice teachers differs from generation to generation and what is the reason of the difference. We conduct in-depth interview with 9 secondary school teachers by three generations. In research results, 386 generation teachers adapted gradually to teaching society due to the various supports from senior teachers although they are unskilled during their first job days. X generation teachers also experienced relaxed and affective atmosphere and at the same time regards highly individuality and freedom. In contrast, N generation teachers suffered from unsupported struggle like solitary soldiers in the battlefields. The reasons of the difference are the diffusion of individuality culture and the increase of the workload.

이 연구는 초임교사의 교직사회화 과정이 세대에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있으며 그 원인이 무 엇인지 분석하였다. 의도적 표집법에 따라 세대 별로 3명씩 모두 9명의 교사를 대상으로 심 층면담을 수행하였다. 연구결과, 386세대 교사들은 초임 시절이 비록 서툴기는 했지만 ‘행복 했던 시절’이었으며 선배교사들의 다양한 지원을 받아 교직사회에 순조롭게 적응하였다. X세 대 교사들은 개성과 자유를 중시하면서도 교직사회에서 ‘여유와 정’을 경험하였다. 이와 달리, N세대 교사들의 초임 시절은 전쟁터에서 살아남기 위해 혼자서 발버둥치는 ‘고군분투’의 상 황이었다. 이와 같이 세대별로 초임교사의 교직사회화 과정이 다르게 나타난 것은 개인주의 문화의 확산과 업무 부담의 증가 때문인 것으로 분석되었다.
