The purpose of this study is to understand the patterns of social studies distance learning practiced by elementary school teachers and the teachers’ reflections. To this end, eight teachers who practiced distance learning for more than 3 months were selected in consideration of the diversity of their grades and model of distance learning, and in-depth interviews were conducted with them to analyze the patterns and reflections of distance learning. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the practice of distance learning can guarantee expansion of the spectrum of learning, improvement possibility of learning by level, growth of teachers, and rediscovery of digital textbooks. The disadvantages like teacher’s autonomy and class diversity reduction, student academic decline, difficulty in localization classes appeared also. Through this analysis, the study suggested development of teaching model that can link distance classes with face-to-face classes, expansion of teachers’ autonomy, necessity of research on what makes distance classes in social studies good, and digitization of localized textbooks.

이 연구는 초등학교 교사들이 실천하고 있는 사회과 원격수업의 양상과 그에 따른 교사의 성찰을 파악 하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 학년과 원격수업 운영 방식의 다양성을 고려하여 원격수업을 3개월 이상 실천 한 교사 8명을 선정하였고, 이들을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하여 원격수업 실천 양상과 성찰을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 원격수업의 실천으로 인해 수업의 스펙트럼 확장, 수준별 학습의 가능성 제고, 교사의 성장, 디지털 교과서의 재발견이라는 장점이 나타났지만, 교사의 자율성과 수업의 다양성 축소, 학생 학력 저하, 지역화 수 업의 어려움과 같은 단점도 나타났다. 이를 통해 원격수업과 대면 수업을 연계할 수 있는 수업 모델 개발과 교 사들의 원격수업 자율권 확대, 원격수업에서 좋은 사회과 수업은 무엇인가에 대한 연구 및 지역화 교재의 디 지털화를 제언하였다.
