The present study attempted to classify the types of perpetrators in homicide cases (murder and manslaughter) through LCA(Latent Class Analysis). The study used 216 cases that occurred in a five year span from 2015 to 2019, taken from the Korean National Police Agency’s SCAS(Scientific Crime Analysis System). In order to classify homicide perpetrators by type according to the characteristics of their offenses, the study conducted LCA on the perpetrators based on seven factors regarding offense characteristics. The results allowed the study to classify homicide perpetrators by five types specifically weapons-using perpetrators, familicide perpetrators, perpetrators with mental disorders, crime of passion perpetrators, and drunk/accidental perpetrators. The present study was able to confirm heterogeneity depending on the offense characteristics of the homicide perpetrator. In addition, the study was able to identify characteristics which demonstrated differences between types from homicide cases that occurred in the Seoul region, implying further use for the study in revealing differences by the region that adopts a self-governing police system in the future.

본 연구는 살인혐의(살인 및 치사) 사건 가해자의 유형을 잠재계층분석(Latent Class Analysis)을 통해 분류해보고자 하였다. 분석을 위해 경찰청 과학적범죄분석시스 템(SCAS: Scientific Crime Analysis System)에 입력된 2015년부터 2019년까지 5년간 발생한 총 216개의 사건들을 사용하였다. 이를 바탕으로 살인혐의 가해자의 범행특성에 따라 유형을 분류하기 위해 7개의 범행특성 요인에 기반해 가해자에 대한 잠재계층분 석을 실시해보고자 하였다. 그 결과 흉기사용형 가해자, 친족살해형 가해자, 정신장애 형 가해자, 치정살해형 가해자, 음주/우발형 가해자 등 다섯 가지 유형으로 살인혐의 사건 가해자를 유형화 할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 살인혐의 가해자의 범행특성에 따른 이질성을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 와 더불어 서울지역에서 발생하는 살인혐의 사건의 유형간 차이를 나타내는 사건 관련 특성을 알아 볼 수 있었으며, 이는 추후 도입될 자체제경찰제도를 대비해 각 지역에 따 라 어떠한 차이가 있을지 예측해 볼 수 있는 연구가 되었다는 의미가 있다.
