This study examined the case study of Yeosu Airport in Korea, where passengers are dramatically decreasing, and the study focuses on developing Yeosu airport using a tourism industry and Gwangyang bay industry. With the rapid expansion of the tourism infrastructure starting from the 2012 EXPO, it has grown to become a major tourist site on the south coast with 15 million visitors annually. It also has the advantage of having a large industrial complex (The Gwangyang Free Economic Zone) behind Yeosu airport. However, the transport support system for tourism in Yeosu airport area is insufficient in many aspects. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to investigate the current situation of Yeosu airport, identify problems and suggest specific methods. Furthermore It emphasize the importance of improving and investing in facilities needed to vitalize the regional airport.

본 연구는 승객이 급격하게 감소하고 있는 여수공항의 사례를 여수시의 관광산업과 광양만 산업을 활용한 공항 활성화에 중점을 두고 있다. 여수는 2012년 여수세계박람회 이후 관광 인프라의 급속한 확장으로 매년 1,500만명이 방문하는 남해안의 대표 관광지며 또한, 여수 공항 배후의 광양경제자유구역이 위치하고 있다. 그러나 여수공항 지역 관광을 위한 교통 지원 시스템은 여러 측면에서 불충분하다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 여수 공항의 현황을 조사하고 문제점을 파악하여 구체적인 방안을 제시하는 것에 목적을 두며, 공항 활성화 전략에 필요한 설비 개선과 투자의 중요성에 대한 시사점을 도출한다.
