This study aims to measure the ability of advanced Korean learners to use the language, focusing on the modality auxiliary particles “-(i)rado” and “-(i)nama”. First of all, section 2 divided the pragmatical competence into semantic level and pragmatic level and classified the multilayered meaning of “-(i)rado” and “-(i)nama”. In this paper, a computer-based listening test (C-PLT) was conducted to measure knowledge of the use of vocabulary. With this test, the study compared the results of advanced Korean learners (KL) and Korean native speakers (KS) and discussed the results of learners based on proficiency. A t-test was performed to verify the results statistically. Finally, through the experiment of retrospective verbal reporting (RVR), which is a qualitative research method for some learners, the paper discussed whether learners understand the semantic meaning of the vocabulary correctly and whether they can extend the semantic meaning to derive the pragmatical meaning. This study is meaningful in that it emphasizes the extension of the semantic description of grammatical items by looking at meaning-knowledge and usage-knowledge from a pragmatical point of view. It is also meaningful in that the experimental research methodology emphasized the educational need to improve learners' pragmatical competence.

이 논문은 유사한 의미 기능을 지닌 보조사 ‘(이)라도’와 ‘(이)나마’를 중 심으로 중･고급 학습자들의 화용 능력을 측정한 연구이다. 본고는 본격적 인 실험에 앞서 선행 연구 검토를 통하여 화용 능력을 어휘의 이해 지식 과 어휘의 사용 지식으로 나누었으며 ‘(이)라도’와 ‘(이)나마’의 다양한 의 미･기능을 이에 따라 분류하였다. 어휘의 사용 지식을 측정하기 위하여 본고는 컴퓨터 기반 화용 듣기 테스트(C-PLT)를 시행하여 먼저 모어 화자와 학습자의 결과를 살펴보고 이 후 숙달도에 따른 학습자들의 결과를 살펴보았다. 해당 결과를 통계적으 로 검증하기 위하여 t 검정을 실시하였다. 마지막으로 일부 학습자들을 대상으로 질적 연구 방법인 회고적 언어 보고(RVR) 실험을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 본고는 학습자들이 항목의 의미론적 의미를 정확히 이해하고 있는 지와 의미론적 의미에 기반 혹은 이를 확장하여 화용론적 의미를 도출할 수 있는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 화용론적 관점에서 학습자의 문법 형태의 의미 이해 및 사 용 양상을 살펴봄으로써 문법 형태 의미 기술의 외연 확장을 강조하였다 는 점, 실험 연구를 바탕으로 학습자의 화용 능력 개선을 위한 교육적 필 요성을 강조하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
