Under the connection of concept of "great unity", this paper summarized the development process of Chinese modern “peace” thoughts. First of all, Through the analysis of the discussion on "peace" among the modern Chinese Elites Since the 17th century, this paper found out “peace” sometimes has been a means or a process and ultimately became a final goal for the modern Chinese. Secondly, this paper also led out the modern Chinese’s viewpoint that “peace” was formed according to the order which based on morality, justice and harmony. Finally, this paper has presented the author's opinion that there was a traditional concept of "great unity" under the modern Chinese’s “peace” thoughts.

이 논고는 중국 근대 평화 사상의 전개 과정을 ”대일통“ 관념과의 관련 속에서 개괄적으로 검토한 것이다. 필자는 먼저 17세기 이래 중국 근대 엘리트들의 ”평화“ 담론에 대한 고찰을 통해 근대 중국인에게 평화란 때로는 수단이면서 과정이었지만 궁극적으로는 목적이었다는 점, 그리고 평화란 도덕, 정의, 조화를 바탕으로 하는 질서에 의해 만들어진다는 근대 중국인들의 인식을 도출했다. 다음 근대 중국인들의 평화 사상의 근저에는 ”대일통“이라는 전통적 관념이 깔려있다는 필자 나름의 견해를 제시했다.
