In 1922, a book called "倍達族歷史" was published in Shanghai, China. This book was produced by the Korean provisional government for use as a history textbook for elementary schools. As for "倍達族歷史", although some studies have mentioned the name and the simple content of the book, there has been no general and specific study of the book. No one has ever studied carefully who wrote "倍達族歷史" for what purpose and through what process. In addition, the history of ‘Baedaljok(倍達族)’ in the book has never been studied what it means at the time of the book's publication or the present. In this paper, I first examine the meaning of the term 'Baedal (倍達)', the formation period and the formation process. Next, I examined when and who could write "倍達族歷史" under what historical background. Finally, I would like to analyze Daejonggyo(大倧敎)'s view of history in "倍達族歷史".

1922년에 중국의 상해에서 『배달족역사』란 책이 간행되었다. 이 책 은 대한민국임시정부가 초등학교의 역사교과서로 사용하기 위해 제작한 것이다. 『배달족역사』에 대해서는, 지금까지 몇몇 연구에서 그 책의 이름과 간단한 내용이 언급되긴 했지만, 그 책에 대한 전반적이고 구체적인 연 구는 없었다. 지금까지 누가, 어떤 목적을 위해, 그리고 어떤 과정을 통 해 『배달족역사』를 썼는지에 대해 자세하게 연구하지 않았다고 볼 수 있다. 또한 그 책에 담긴 배달족의 역사라는 것이 그 책이 출간되던 당 시나 현재에 어떠한 의미를 지니고 있는지 제대로 연구된 적이 없었다. 본고에서 필자는 먼저 ‘배달’이란 용어의 의미와 그 형성 시기 및 형성 과정에 대해 먼저 검토한다. 다음으로 『배달족역사』가 언제 또 누구에 의해 어떤 역사적 배경 아래에서 작성될 수 있었는지를 검토했 다. 마지막으로 『배달족역사』에 담긴 대종교의 역사관을 분석해 보려 한다.
