The purpose of this paper is to cognitive semantic study which is properties and aspects of metaphor that take effect on meaning of Chinese idioms. For the purpose of this study, first, the conception of metaphor was grounded through Gibbs and Nayak(1989). Then I made researches the properties and the aspects of metaphor which took effect on meaning of Chinese idioms. For the purpose of this study I defined concept of idiom from the cognitive semantic point of view. That is, idioms are not only that the meaning of idiom can't be composed of its words' meaning, but also that the meaning of idiom can be composed of its words' meaning which are motivated. And on the basis of this definition, I prescribed that the semantic properties of idiom are ‘compositionality of idiom's meaning’ and ‘degreed of idiom's meaning’. As a result of this study, the aspects of metaphor which took effect on meaning of Chinese idioms were the much almost the same as Gibbs and Nayak(1989).

이 글은 중국어 관용어의 의미에서 나타나는 은유성에 대해서 논의하는 것이다. 본 연구의 토대가 되는 중국어 관용어의 의미적 특징에 대해 논의하고 관용 어를 구성하는 단어의 의미가 동기를 부여하여 관용의미를 유추할 수 있다는 것 이 존재한다는 것을 살피는 것이다. 관용어의 의미적 특징으로 관용의미에는 합 성성이 존재하며, 또한 관용의미의 합성성에는 정도성이 있다고 보았다. 여기서 관용의미의 합성성은 은유와 환유와 같은 인지의미론 이론으로 설명되는 관용어 와 관습적 지식을 통해 설명되는 관용어에서 볼 수 있다. 그리고 관용의미의 합 성성에 정도성이 있는데 관용어들의 관용의미 사이에는 정도의 차이가 존재하는 것을 말하며, 이 글에서는 관용의미의 합성성의 유무에 따라 나타나는 정도성이 존재하며 합성성이 나타나는 관용어 중에서 은유성이 나타나는 중국어 관용어들 을 개별적으로 분석하고 그 양상을 살펴보는 것을 목표로 한다.
