The purpose of this study was to classify heterogeneous latent class of K university students’ academic outcomes and to analyze the characteristics of each class. A academic outcomes included GPA as an academic achievement and five key competencies (liberal arts, communication, global, creative, and professional competency). To do this, A latent profile analysis using a three-step approach was performed. Based on the results, five latent classes were identified: a middle achievement-high competence, middle achievement-middle competence, middle achievement-low competence, low achievement-low competence and low achievement-lowest competence. A logistic regression analysis revealed that school related variables (number of extracurricular programs participation, number of book lending) were relevant factors which impact upon the classes after controlling for student related variables. Finally, the limitations of the current is study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

본 연구는 대학생의 학업성과를 학업성취도와 핵심역량의 수준으로 측정하고, K 대학교 학생들을 대상으로 학업성과에 따른 이질적인 잠재계층을 분류하여 각 유형별 특징을 파악하였다. 또한, 학생 변인(성별, 소속 계열, 학년)를 통제한 상태에서 학교 변인(비교과 프로그램 참여 정도, 열람실 이용시간, 도서대출 권수)의 효과를 분석하였다. 학업성취도는 GPA(학점)를 활용하였으며, 핵심역량은 K 대학교에서 자체 개발한 5대(인문 역량, 소통 역량, 글로벌 역량, 창의 역량, 전문 역량) 핵심역량 진단 도구를 사용하였다. 이를 위해 잠재계층을 추정한 후 잠재계층을 고정한 상태에서 다항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하는 3단계법을 이용한 잠재프로파일분석(Latent profile analysis)을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 학업성과를 토대로 다섯 개의 이질적인 계층을 도출하였으며, 잠재계층별 특성에 따라 중간성취-고역량, 중간성취-중간역량, 중간성취-저역량, 저성취-저역량, 저성취-최저역량으로 명명하였다. 이후 다항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 비교과 프로그램별 참여 정도, 도서대출 권수가 잠재계층 구분과 유의한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 학업성취도와 핵심역량 수준이 일치하지 않을 수 있음을 확인한 것으로, 잠재계층별로 학교 활동 및 비교과 프로그램을 계획하는 데 있어서 차별적이고 다각적인 접근이 필요함을 의미한다. 마지막으로, 본 연구의 제한점을 기술하고 이를 토대로 한 후속 연구를 제언하였다.
