In this study, we aim to identify the types of tourism and leisure activities of Korean people in modern Joseon era, investigate the difference between the social classes, and classify the types of those leisure activities according to the social classes by using the articles of Dong-Ah Ilbo in 1930. Text mining techniques are employed to analyze unstructured text data. From the text mining analysis, we found that, first, not only traditional activities, but also western sports, such as soccer, baseball, and ice hockey, were enjoyed at the same time. Second, there were some differences in the types of sports played between the social classes. While students played western sports, common Korean enjoyed more traditional sport activities. Third, Koran people enjoyed cultural activities, including dance and music concert. The texts related with movie frequently appear in the text analysis and the words related with music concert and dancer, such as Choi Seung-Hee, are found with high frequencies. Lastly, the key words related with construction of tourism infrastructures are found with high frequency. It was found that sky resorts were constructed in the northern part of Korea, while, in the south, transportation infrastructures were developed for tourists.

본 연구는 1930년 동아일보 기사를 대상으로 조선인이 향유했던 관광 및 여가활동 유형을 분석하고, 사회계층에 따른 여가활동 유형의 차이와 당시 조선인이 향유하던 여가 및 관광활동은 어떻게 분류되는지를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 분석 방법은 비정형화된 텍스트를 분석하는 텍스트 마이닝 방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 분석 결 과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지역을 중심으로 하는 전통적인 씨름대회, 윷놀이 뿐 아니라 신문사 주최 및 후원의 서양에서 유입된 축구, 야구, 정구, 아이스하키 등의 스포츠가 다양하게 향유되 었던 것을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 계층별로 즐기는 스포츠에는 차이가 있는 것을 알 수 있 다. 학생층을 중심으로는 서양에서 유입된 스포츠가 일반인은 씨름과 같은 전통 스포 츠가 유행이었다. 셋째, 대중문화 및 무용, 음악회 등의 여가활동도 조선인들 사이에 향유되었다. 영화상영 등 영화와 관련된 텍스트가 빈번하게 등장하였고, 무용가 최승 희 및 음악회 관련 단어도 높은 빈도로 출현하였다. 넷째, 관광 인프라 조성과 관련된 주제어의 빈도가 높았다. 북쪽에서는 스키리조트 건설이 진행되었고, 남쪽에서는 관광 객을 위한 것은 아니지만 자동차 도로 건설로 원활한 여객통행을 위한 인프라가 조성 된 것을 알 수 있었다.
