The aim of this study was to explore the differences in service quality according to the attendees’ characteristics in the festival. More specifically, the aim of this study was to explore the reliability and validity of five dimensions of service quality (i.e. program, convenience, operation capacity, physical appearance, information guide) and determine whether there are statistical differences among the five dimensions of services quality according to the demographic variables and festival attendees’ characteristic. For empirical study, a survey was conducted from April 1 to 30, 2016 through an online survey company. Total 402 samples were used for the final analysis. According to the analysis, there exist differences in festival service quality by some demographic variables, such as gender, age and marital status, and attendees’ characteristic including length of stay. Discussions on theoretical/empirical implications and directions for future study are provided.

대부분의 지역축제는 지역문화의 특성을 반영하기 보다는 타 지역의 축제의 단순 모방이나 차별화된 콘텐츠 및 프로그램의 부재 등으로 지역민의 위로행사로 전락하고 있어 축제에 대한 부정적인 시각도 대두되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 실정에서 지역축 제가 관광적 가치를 발휘하고 관광상품으로 성공하기 위해서는 무엇보다 축제 서비스 품질에 대한 면밀한 분석이 선행되어야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 축제 서비스품질에 대한 이론적 개념을 재정립하고, 서비스품질의 구성차원에 대한 실증분석을 실시하며, 이를 통한 인구통계적 특성과 축제 참가 특성에 따라 축제 서비스품질의 인지에 어떠 한 차이가 있는지를 파악하여 향후 축제 관광객들을 위한 효과적인 마케팅 방안 수립 을 위한 유용한 자료를 제공하고자 한다.
