The purpose of this study was to investigate the competencies for Korean teachers at university institutions, and the teachers’ awareness of these competencies. Three research problems were identified: first, what were the core competencies required to teach Korean at university institutions? Second, what were the differences in the awareness of pre-service teachers, teachers, and supervising teachers? Third, what were the differences in the recognition of pre-service teachers and teachers regarding the need for competencies? During the research, a survey was conducted with 60 pre-service teachers, 146 teachers, and 32 supervising teachers. As a result, the importance and order of priority of 20 competencies were obtained, and the differences in the awareness of the competencies among the teacher groups were identified. The supervising teachers considered each competency more important than the teachers, especially when they had high expectations for communication with students, cooperation with fellow teachers, and a sense of belonging in the institutions. In addition, the teachers thought that they should be better equipped with each of the competencies, while the pre-service teachers lacked such recognition, which indicated that they did not fully understand the circumstances. 본 연구는 학기관 한국어 교사의 핵심 역량이 무엇인지, 그 역량에 한 교사들의 인식은 어떠한지를 파악하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 문 제는 다음의 세 가지이다. 첫째, 학기관 한국어 교사의 핵심 역량은 무엇인가? 둘째, 한국어 교사 역량에 한 교사 집단의 인식 차이는 어 떠한가? 셋째, 한국어 교사 역량 필요도에 한 교사 집단의 인식 차이 는 어떠한가? 본 연구에서는 예비교사 60명, 교사 146명, 관리교사 32명을 상으 로 설문조사를 실시하다. 그 결과, 20개 역량에 한 역량 중요도와 순위를 도출할 수 있었으며 교사 집단 간의 역량에 한 인식 차이를 파악할 수 있었다. 관리교사는 교사보다 각 역량을 더 중요하게 인식 하고 있었다. 특히 학습자와의 소통하는 역량, 동료교사와 협업하는 역량, 기관 귀속감 역량에 한 중요도가 높게 나타났다. 역량 필요도 에 있어서는 교사들이 예비교사들보다 전반적으로 높게 나타났다. 즉 교사들은 자신이 각 역량을 더 갖추어야 한다고 인식하는 반면, 예비 교사들은 이러한 인식이 낮아서, 현장의 상황을 충분히 이해하고 있지 못함을 알 수 있었다.
