Preparing Korean pre-service teachers for integrative education after Korea becomes re-unified is not just an idea any more and begins to take shape in practice as part of the regular curriculum of teacher education in South Korea. Kookmin University, as the first case that develops and implement such a program as part of the regular teacher education curriculum, has taught the first such class in Spring 2016, in close cooperation with the Korean Reunification Education Association. This article examines the vivid learning experiences that the students, that is, pre-service teachers enrolled at the university have encountered taking the first class titled, ‘Re-unified Korea and Educational Policy.’ The qualitative analysis of class notes collected at the end of the semester has revealed that South Korean pre-service teachers are concerned about numerous issues regarding Korean re-unification and educational policy, and three particular topics among them, namely, interaction between the two Koreas, the roles of non-ideological subjects in curriculum integration and college admission policy in the re-unified Korea are discussed in-depth in this article.

예비교사를 위한 통일통합교육의 실시는 이제 아이디어차원에서 넘어서서 실질적으로 대 학 강의의 형식으로 정규교육 프로그램화되어 실시되고 있다. 서울에 소재한 국민대학교 교 육학과와 한국통일교육학회가 협동으로 운영하며, 한국통일교육학회가 발급하는 방식으로 운영되는 예비교사 통일통합교육 전문가 과정은 이제 첫 학기를 운영하여 전문가 훈련의 경 험을 축적하는 첫 디딤발을 내딛었다. 이에 본고는 첫 수업으로 실시된 ‘통일한국과 교육정 책’ 강의의 경험을 논문형식으로 작성하여 공유한다. 특히 본고는 예비교사들이 통일통합교 육에 관련하여 어떠한 내용들을 중점적으로 탐구하였는지에 대한 연구문제에 대하여 질적 연구방법을 사용하여 논의를 전개한다. 본 연구의 결과로 예비교사들은 대체적으로 현실을 보다 직접적으로 반영한 방식으로 학습을 전개하였는데, 남북교류가 중단된 현 상황에서 남 북교류를 강조하는 것이 현실적인 의미가 있는지에 대한 검토, 비이데올로기 교과가 없는 현실에서 비이데올로기 중심의 접근을 하는 것이 가능한지에 대한 탐구, 그리고 통일 이후 대입의 문제가 가장 큰 교육의 문제가 될 텐데 이에 대한 준비가 더욱 필요하다는 지적 등이 그 예이다.
