The church education for teenagers consists of Sunday worship and Bible study. In general, Bible study is a way of delivering the contents of Bible and doctrines through teacher-centered method. In the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, teenagers are accustomed to the way they acquire information through the Internet or Youtube, and are accustomed to using smart devices. According to the change of educational environment, various educational methods considering the level and interest of students are being tried in general education. However, church education is not responding to these change properly. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the application of flipped learning to church education and to investigate its effectiveness. Flipped learning is a pedagogical method in which the traditional notion of classroom based learning is inverted, so that students learn to the learning video before class at home, then being used to deepen understanding through discussion or debate activities in classroom time. In this study, educational model based on discussion and debate was developed to apply the flipped learning to the teenagers’ education of the church, and the educational effect using this method was verified by the mixed methodology. The results of this study were as follows: First, pre-post t-test result shows the flipped learning based on discussion and debate influenced the inner factor of spiritual growth. Second, the attention factor of learning motivation is significant result through t-test. In the result of qualitative analysis, students learned the contents of learning via instructional video, so they are able to participate in discussion and debate activities and concentrate upon the lesson more. Third, the result of correlation shows significant relation among learning motivation, discussion activity, spiritual growth, and regression analysis shows that the attention factor influence discussion activity significantly. Forth, as a result of the regression analysis, discussion was found to influence the inner factor of spiritual growth. As a result, learning motivation influence discussion, and discussion affect inner factor of spiritual growth. This result shows some considerations that we need to develop the contents and teaching methods which could sustain students’ attention for Bible study, and to find facilitating way of students’ participation and discussion, and to develop learning activities that support learner-centered discussion.

청소년을 대상으로 한 교회교육은 주일에 이루어지는 예배와 성경공부로 이루어져 있다. 일반적으로 성경공부는 공과공부의 형태로 대부분 교사의 일방적인 강의를 통 해 성경과 교리를 전달하는 방식으로 되어 있다. 4차 산업혁명 시대의 청소년들은 인 터넷이나 유튜브 통해 정보를 습득하는 방식에 익숙하며, 스마트기기를 활용한 교육 방법에 익숙해져 있다. 교육환경의 변화에 따라 일반교육에서는 학생들의 수준과 흥 미를 고려한 다양한 교육방법이 시도되고 있는데, 교회교육에서는 이런 변화에 제대 로 대처하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 최근 일반교육에서 활발하게 도입하고 있는 플립러닝의 교 회교육 적용 방안을 모색하고, 그 효과를 밝히는 데 있다. 플립러닝은 전통적인 교육 방식을 뒤집어 학생들이 교실에서 학습해야 하는 지식을 동영상을 통해 집에서 미리 학습해 오고 교실에서는 토의와 토론과 같은 활동을 통해 지식을 심화하고 적용하는 교육 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 플립러닝을 교회 청소년 교육에 적용하기 위해 토의․ 토론 중심의 교육모델을 만들고, 이를 적용한 교육효과를 혼합 방법론으로 검증하였다. 연구의 결과로 첫째, 중등부 학생들에게 적용한 토의 및 토론에 기반한 플립러닝 방법은 사전사후 t-검정 결과 영적 성장의 내적요인에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학습동기 하위요인에서도 t-검정 결과 주의집중 요인에서 유의미한 결과를 보였다. 질적분석 결과 학생들이 사전 영상을 통해 내용을 알고 있는 상황이어서 토 의․토론 수업이 가능하였고 집중이 잘되는 양상을 보였다. 셋째, 학습동기-토의․토 론활동-영적성장에 대한 연관성을 찾기 위해 상관분석을 실시한 결과 유의미한 관련 성이 나타났고, 후속 분석으로 회귀분석을 실시한 결과 주의집중이 토의․토론에 유 의미한 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 영적성장 중 내적요인에 영향을 주는 요인을 분석하기 위해 단일회귀분석을 실시한 결과 토의․토론이 유의미한 영향 을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과로 학습동기가 토의․토론 활동에 영향을 주고, 토의․토론 활동이 영적성장 내적요인에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이런 결과는 주의집중을 유지시 킬 수 있는 공과내용을 개발할 필요가 있으며, 학생들의 참여와 토의․토론을 활성화 하는 방안과 학습자 중심의 토의․토론이 이루어질 수 있는 공과활동을 만들어야 한 다는 점을 시사한다.
