The study had been conducted analyzing cross-cultural differences of PCL-R between Korea and Canada through using Item Response Theory(IRT). Convicted prisoners in Korea and Canada were individually evaluated, and their PCL-R scores were used to identify if there were Differential Item Functions(DIFs) showing some items may have effected culturally. The result showed 8 DIFs had significant cross-cultural differences. Among 3 factors of PCL-R, factor 3 showed lesser cultural differences than factor 2, and factor 1(relationship factor) showed significant cross-cultural differences. Through the study, researchers implied the existence of measurable cross-cultural differences. Limitations and future research directions are further discussed.

본 연구는 국내외 대표적 사이코패시 평가도구인 PCL-R의 타당화를 목적으로 비교문화연구를 진행하였다. 한국과 캐나다의 재소자들의 PCL-R 측정 결과를 바탕으로 문화적 특성에 따른 차별기능문항이 있는지, 기존 연구들과 차이점이 있는지 알아보았다. 그 결과, 문화 간 두드러진 차이를 보이는 8개의 차별기능문항을 확인하였다. PCL-R의 3요인 중, 요인1에서 가장 큰 문화 간 차이를 보였고, 상대적으로 요인3이 요인2보다 두 집단 간 차이가 없는 부분에서 기존 연구들과 다른 결과를 보였다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 계량적 수준의 문화적 차이가 있음을 시사하고, 한계점과 향후 연구 방향 등의 추가 논의를 서술하였다.
