This study analyzed ‘Kim manduk’, a confirmed name in Chaejaegong’s , which is different from the other Jeon in the method of description using the customs of mathematical naming and tried to clarify the purpose of writing based on this analyzing. For this, this study examined ‘Kim manduk’, a confirmed name in , included in ≪Bunamjip≫ 55, using the method of mathematical naming, composed of four classes with Wonhyungyeejeong of ‘Kim manduk’ and judged his life through the mathematical energy. Also, using Yeoksang naming method, this study constructed “Gwe” of the name, ‘Kim manduk’ and evaluated his life focusing on the meaning of “Gwesang, Gwesa, Sangjeon, Hyosa”. After that it can be confirmed that his name, ‘Kim manduk’ is accord with the life of him written on the work and the personality of the character, the construction of the work and the intention of Ipjeon is exactly accord with naming analyzation. I could confirm through that Chaejaegong reconstructed the life of Manduk according to one of custom, mathematical naming principle in order to reveal Ipjeon consciousness. Finally I can make certain through the analyzation of that the cultural customs of mathematical naming enables much broader and more accurate interpretation of the work.

이 글은 일반적인 전의 서술 방식과 차이를 보이는 채제공의 <만덕전> 에서 확인된 ‘김만덕’이란 성명을 성명학의 관습을 활용하여 분석하고 그를 바탕으로 하여 <만덕전>의 창작 의도를 밝혀내고자 하였다. 그를 위해 이 글에서는 ≪번암집≫ 권 55에 수록되어 있는 <만덕전>에 서 확인된 ‘김만덕(金萬德)’을 수리성명학의 방법으로 분석하여 ‘김만덕(金萬 德)’의 원형이정의 사격을 구성하고 수리의 영동력을 통해 그의 일생을 판단 하였다. 또한 역상성명학의 방법을 사용하여 ‘김만덕’이라는 성명으로 괘를 구성하고 동효를 잡아 괘상, 괘사, 상전, 효사의 의미를 중심으로 그의 일생 을 판단해 보았다. 그 결과 <만덕전>에서 확인된 인물의 이름 ‘김만덕(金萬 德)’과 작품에 표현된 김만덕의 일생이 일치할 뿐만 아니라 인물의 성격, 작 품의 구성, 입전 의도와 성명학적 분석이 일치함을 확인할 수 있었다. 채제공은 <만덕전>의 입전 의식을 잘 드러내기 위한 방법으로 만덕의 삶을 성명학이라는 문화 관습을 활용하여 재구성하였음을 <만덕전>의 내 용을 통해 판단할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 성명학의 문화 관습을 활용하여 작 품을 해석했을 때 좀 더 정확하고 폭 넓은 해석이 가능함을 다시 한 번 확인할 수 있었다.
