In this article, I considered the meaning of the ‘Little Theater Project of the A Midsummer Night’ organized by the National Youth Theater Institute for Children and Youth in consideration of the audience of elementary school students and middle school students. The first analyzed data was 20 works of ‘Little Theater 4 in the Midsummer Night’ of 2016. The most striking feature of this performance text is that it is doing very well the ‘mind-set of children and adolescents’ and ‘stimulating the imagination of children and adolescents’. And it was evaluated as having the advantage that the reliability of the contents of the performance was ensured by adaptation of the existing works such as the old story and the fact that the performance time and the viewing age were appropriately considered. Next, I used ‘TongTong’, ‘Mano’, and ‘Lalala’ among the independent performing artists as an analysis target to see what they performed and felt. We have lively and valuable experiences from qualitative research data such as photographs and performance logbooks that they provide. Finally, it is discussed that the performances of independent performers can be welcomed in the field of school education as ‘flexibility of performance progress’, ‘adequacy of required budget’, and ‘compatibility with school education goals’. In the future, this great performance text and performances of independent performers will be widely expanded, opening up in the school space as well as in various venues and hoping that more children and young people will enjoy it and enjoy it meaningfully.

이 글에서는 학교 교육의 장에서, 초등학생과 중등학생이라는 관객을 고려하여 재단법인 국립극단 어린 이청소년극연구소에서 주관한 ‘작은극장 프로젝트’의 의미를 고찰하였다. 먼저 분석한 자료는 ‘2016 한여름밤의 작은극장’에서 발표된 작품 20편이었다. 이 공연 텍스트에 나타난 가장 큰 특징은 ‘어린이와 청소년의 마음 살피기’, ‘어린이와 청소년의 상상력 자극하기’를 매우 훌륭하게 수행하고 있다는 점이었다. 그리고 ‘옛이야기 등 기존 작품 각색’을 각색하여 공연 내용에 관한 신뢰성을 확보하고 있다는 점과 ‘공연 시간과 관람 연령’도 적절하게 고려한 점을 긍정적으로 평가할 수 있다. 다음으로 독립공연예술가 가운데 ‘둥둥’님, ‘마뇨’님, ‘랄랄라’님의 ‘찾아가는 1인극 학교 공연’을 분석 대상 으로 삼아 그들이 공연하고 느낀 바도 살펴보았다. 그들이 제공한 사진과 공연 일지 등 질적 연구 자료 를 통해 생생하면서도 가치 있는 경험을 고찰하였다. 그 결과 이들 독립공연예술가들의 공연이 학교 교육의 장에서 환영받을 수 있는 측면으로 ‘공연 진행의 유연성’, ‘소요 예산의 적절성’, ‘학교 교육 목표와의 부합성’이 높다는 것을 확인하였다. 앞으로 이런 훌륭 한 공연 텍스트와 독립공연예술가들의 공연이 널리 확대되어 학교라는 장은 물론 여러 공간에서 열려 더 많은 어린이와 청소년들이 즐겁고 의미 있게 관람하길 기대한다.
