The purpose of this study is to analyze the speaking tasks of the high school Japanese textbooks with a focus on their relevance to the 6th National Curriculum and communicative use of the language. This study attempted to conduct an in-depth analysis of speaking tasks involved in the textbooks. The results are as follows: 1) There were 8 types of speaking tasks such as pronunciation, repetition-imitation, replacement-transformation, Q&A, explanation, role play, interview, presentation in Japanese textbooks. 2) With respect to performance stages of speaking tasks, most of the textbooks show a high percentage of activities on replacement-transformation and repetition-imitation. 3) Speaking activities of the textbooks have been centered on private practice and partner activities, and most of the textbooks make learners engage in speaking activities through written directions.

본 논문에서는 제6차 교육과정에 의거하여 편찬된 고등학교 일본어 교과서(12종) 『일본어Ⅰ』의 말하기 활동을 검토하였다. 일본어 교과서에 제시되어 있는 말하기 연습 부분을 말하기 연습 유형, 말하기 활동의 주체, 말하기 자극 유형에 따라 분석한 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 1) 교과서에 제시된 말하기 연습 유형을 분석한 결과, ①발음연습 ②반복ㆍ모방연습 ③대치ㆍ변형 연습 ④(일본어로)묻고 답하기 ⑤그림ㆍ상황 설명하기 ⑥인터뷰 ⑦역할극 ⑧발표하기의 8가지 유형이 나타났다. 2) 교과서별 말하기 연습 유형을 분석한 결과, 대부분의 교과서에서는 주어진 대화문에 맞게 단어나 표현 등을 바꾸는 ③대치ㆍ변형 연습과 ② 단어나 문장을 그대로 모방ㆍ반복하는 연습의 비율이 높다. 3) 교과서에서의 말하기 활동은 개인 연습과 짝 활동이 중심이 되고 있으며, 대부분의 교과서에서는 지시문을 통해 학습자의 말하기를 유도하는 경우가 많다.
