The National research networks exist to support advanced science and technology in each country. The national researc h network must meet the requirements of science and technology in each field and continuously develop around the contin uously changing environment. In recent years, demand for data - oriented science and technology research forms has been increasing. To cope with this demand, advanced national research networks are establishing mid - to long - term strategi es. In this paper, the status of the advanced research network and trends and requirements of the national research netwo rk are analyzed from the viewpoint of the change of the research network environment, the change of science / technolog y, and the change of industry and life. In order to respond to the analyzed requirements, we propose mid - to long - term development directions and plans for establishing future network backbone, providing user - centered collaborative researc h environment, providing global collaborative network service, and providing high - tech science and technology research data information protection service.

국가 연구망(National Research Network)은 각국의 첨단과학기술을 지원하기 위해 존재한다. 국가 연구망은 각 분야의 과 학기술에 대한 요구사항을 충족하여야 하며, 지속적으로 변해가는 주변 환경에 대해서 끊임없이 발전해 나가야 한다. 최근 데 이터 중심의 과학기술 연구형태에 따른 수요가 증가하고 있으며, 이러한 수요에 대응하기 위해 선진 국가 연구망들은 중장기 적인 전략을 수립하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 선진 연구망에 대한 현황과 국가 연구망 동향 및 요구사항을 연구망환경의 변화, 과학/기술의 변화, 산업과 삶의 변화의 관점에서 분석하였다. 또한 분석한 요구사항에 대응하기 위해 미래형 네트워크 백본 구축, 사용자 중심의 협업 연구 환경 제공, 글로벌 협업 네트워크 서비스 제공, 첨단과학기술 연구데이터 정보 보호 서비스 제 공 등에 관해 중장기 발전 방향 및 방안을 제시한다.
