This study observes the direction and themes of happiness education which was based on Noddings’ care ethics and reveals that the fundamental direction of happiness education should be the restoration of moral relationships and the pursuit of character. Noddings argues that happiness must be an aim of education and she presents the practice of education and happiness curriculum based on care ethics. The themes of happiness education presented by Noddings is related to the life domain of students and it is closely related to themes presented currently in moral subject education curriculum. Noddings’ happiness education can be applied as an improved measure through detailed discussions regarding social perceptions and system improvement, harmony with duty ethics, and the happiness and pain of teachers and students.

본 연구는 나딩스의 배려 윤리에 근거한 행복 교육의 방향과 주제를 살펴보고 행복 교육의 근본적인 방향이 도덕적 관계의 회복과 인성의 추구가 되어야 함을 밝히고 있다. 나딩스는 행복이 교육 목적의 한가지가 되어야 한다고 주장하면서 배려 윤리에 근거하여 교육의 실행과 교육 주제들을 제시하고 있다. 나딩스가 제시한 행복 교육의 교육과정은 학생들의 삶의 영역과 관계되어 있으며 현재 도덕과 교육과정에서 제시된 주제들과 밀접하게 연계된다. 나딩스의 행복 교육은 사회인식과 제도의 개선, 의무 윤리와의 조화, 교사와 학생의 행복과 고통에 대한 구체적인 논의를 통해 보다 개선된 방안으로 적용될 수 있다.
