The purpose of this study is to develop questionnaire classifying the teachers’ nonverbal communication type in classroom by functions, and validate the questionnaire to prepare fundamental data to let teachers explore themselves and provided effective educational environment to students. The study extracted 31 preliminary questions through the opened survey result targeting fifth and sixth grade elementary students, domestic and overseas literature research related to nonverbal communication, analysis on previous scale and expert evaluation, selected 16 final questions using exploratory factor analysis method, and named each category of teachers’ nonverbal communication type by function, “supplement”, “regulation”, “intimacy”, and “concentration”. As the result of confirming the accredited validity with the scale that revised the non-verbal communication type scales classified by function among the existing non-verbal communication types to fit teacher-student relationship, it was confirmed that it had significant correlation with the developed questionnaire. This study is significant as it developed a new tool to explore and examine nonverbal communication type of teacher by function in the field of nonverbal communication which has been insufficient in researches at the field of education.

이 연구의 목적은 교실 상황에서 행해지는 교사의 비언어적 의사소통유형을 기능별로 분류하는 검사 문항을 개발하고 타당화함으로써, 교사가 스스로를 탐색하는 계기를 제공하고 학생들에게 효과적인 교육 환경을 제공하기 위한 기초적 자료를 마련하는데 있다. 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생을 대상으로 한 개방형 설문 결과와 비언어적 의사소통 관련 국․내외 문헌 연구, 기존 척도들의 분석 및 전문가 평정을 통해 31개의 예비 문항을 추출한 후, 탐색적 요인분석법을 활용하여 최종 16개의 문항을 선정하고 교사의 비언어적 의사소통유형을 기능별로 분류한 ‘보완’, ‘규제’, ‘친밀’, ‘집중’으로 명명하였다. 기존의 비언어적 의사소통유형척도 중 기능별로 접근한 비언어적인 의사소통척도를 교사와 학생의 관계에 맞게 수정하여 공인타당도 검증을 실시한 결과, 개발된 검사 문항과 유의미한 상관관계를 가지는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 연구는 기존 교육 현장에서 연구가 미흡한 비언어적 의사소통의 영역에서 교사의 비언어적 의사소통유형을 기능별로 탐색하고 점검할 수 있는 새로운 도구의 개발이라는 점에서 의미가 있다.
