In this study, we have accomplished content area reading activities for pre-service mathematics teachers in 2016. This paper summarizes research processes and results of this study. By analyzing the data collected during the research process, we investigated the perceptions of pre-service mathematics teachers in reading note writing. We found that the pre-service mathematics teachers have a positive view on mathematics and mathematics teaching-learning and the teacher's role through the reading activities of this study. Moreover, they have a positive view about mathematical connectivity and usefulness of mathematics. In addition, they had a positive attitude toward mathematics. The 'reading note writing' strategy in this study positively influenced the pre-service teachers to understand and appreciate the core contents of the book and to have a good reading attitude.

본 연구에서는 예비 교사들을 대상으로 수학 교과와 연계된 독서 활동을 실행하였다. 2003년 이후 매년 실시 해온 교과 독서 활동의 연장선상에서 2016년에는 ‘독서 노트 쓰기’ 전략을 새롭게 도입하였다. 독서 노트 쓰기 활동을 통해 예비 교사들이 자신의 생각과 성찰의 과정을 기록할 수 있도록 안내하였다. 연구 과정에서 수집한 기록물 자료를 토대로 예비 교사의 수학에 대한 인식을 살펴보았다. 특히, 독서 활동 전, 후로 수학에 대한 인식이 어떻게 변화하는지에 주목하였다. 아울러 본 연구의 교과 독서 활동이 예비 수학 교사 교육에 준 영향을 평가하고 본 연구에서 실행한 독서 노트 쓰기 전략의 교육적 효과를 살펴보았다.
