This paper investigates the best version of Songgang kasa. The existing three wood block-printed versions of Songgang kasa have been studied earlier on, but it is yet to be clear which version is the best and how the versions affected one another. In this paper, I examined the differences among the versions from the linguistic and literary points of view. I also compared the postscripts of the versions and the compilers' ideas and corrected mistakes in the most well-known facsimile edition of the original. The version of Yi Seon is the earliest one from the linguistic point of view. I compared this version with the version of Seongju as well as the version of Kwanseo, and I verified the version of Yi Seon contains older linguistic forms. Both the versions of Seongju and Kwanseo present later linguistic forms such as palatalization, vowel rounding, and syllabication. The version of Yi Seon also has some greater significance in the light of its literary characteristics. It contains more natural forms and contents in phrases, words, and even in morphemes. Considering the linguistic and literary features as presented in this paper, the version of Yi Seon is the earliest and best among the three existing versions. It also contains higher possibility to be the primary version of Kwanseo, that is the version of Kwanbuk or the version of Uiseong; none of them exists today. Thus, the authority of the version of Yi Seon should be more clearly established.

본고에서는 현전하는 송강가사의 세 판본을 비교하여 그 선본을 재고하였다. 송강가사의 판본에 대한 연구는 일찍부터 이루어졌지만, 판본 간의 관계 및 선본에 대한 의식은 여전히 명확하지 않다. 이에 본고에서는 어학적 측면과 문학적 측면의 양 방면에서 세 판본의 차이점을 검토하고, 이를 통해 시대적 선후 관계 및 문학적 의미를 고찰하였다. 그리고 이에 앞서 판본들의 발문을 비교하여 선본에 대한 간행자들의 의식을 파악하고 그간 잘못 알려졌던 영인본의 오류도 교정하였다. 어학적 측면에서 볼 때 시기적으로 빠른 면모를 보이는 것은 ‘이선본’이다. 본고에서는 ‘이선본’을 성주본 및 관서본과 비교하여 실제로 ‘이선본’이 나머지 두 판본에 비해 어학적으로 더 고형을 지님을 밝혔다. 성주본과 관서본에서는 구개음화와 원순모음화 등의 음운 규칙, 그리고 분철과 혼철 등의 표기법을 더 자주 사용하여 후대적 특징을 지니고 있음을 확인하였다. 문학적 측면에서 볼 때도 ‘이선본’은 성주본에 비해 더 의미가 있다. 구절이나 행뿐 아니라 단어나 형태소 등에서 차이를 보이는 부분에서도 ‘이선본’은 내용적․형식적으로 보다 자연스러운 면모를 지니고 있다. 본고에서 검증한 것처럼 어학적 측면에서 ‘이선본’이 고형을 지니고 있다는 사실은 ‘이선본’이 현전하는 세 판본 중 시기적으로 가장 앞선 본이며, 관서본의 모본이 된 관북본 혹은 의성본으로 이것을 볼 가능성이 더욱 크다는 점을 말해준다. 또한 ‘이선본’은 문학적 측면에서도 내용적으로나 형식적으로 성주본에 비해 의미를 지닌다. 따라서 ‘이선본’이 지니고 있는 선본으로서의 가치는 보다 더 확고히 정립될 필요가 있다.
