The purpose of this paper is to estimate the TFP of manufacturing industry, to analyze the mutual effects between the economic regions. The main results obtained from our empirical study are as follows. First, TFP decreased in comparison with before and after of the Asian economic crisis. The contribution of output increased, however, that means the qualitative growth. Second, TFP of Metropolitan area has shown row value contrary to existing studies. Third, an result for the mutual relations of TFP using VECM showed that the Metropolitan area acts as a main factor which can have an effect on the other area. It can be understood by considering the concentration of important factors in the Metropolitan area in spite of political regulations in the area.

최근 지역균형발전위원회는 지역발전을 위한 정부의 추진전략을 발표하였다. 신 성장 동력 발굴 및 지역특화 발전, 전 국토의 성장 잠재력 극대화, 행･재정적 권한의 지방이전 확대, 지방과 수도권의 상생발전, 혁신･행정중심복합도시의 발전적 보완 등의 5가지가 주요내용이다. 이러한 전략의 일부로써 전국을 7개 권역으로 구분하는 5+2광역경제권 발전 비전이 제시되었는데 이것은 전국을 5개 광역경제권과 2개의 특별광역경제권으로 나누어 각권역의 경제력과 경쟁력을 강화한다는 것이다.
