The revised 7th curriculum was noticed in February, 2007. Along with the revision of curriculum, editing material, which was developed in each revision period, was set as a standard of editing. This editing material has been the important standard in the selection of range and terms of education course. Until now, the 9th editing material have been developed but the development of Korean music related editing material was made only in the 9th collection. However, in the development of editing material in relation to Korean Music Terms, the transcription of foreign language was never suggested and the vague terms in meaning and explanation were suggested. It showed the deficiency of investigation about the appropriate use of terms in the education field. This study investigated the real meaning and illustration of Korean Music Terms and attempted to suggest the appropriate explanation by selecting Korean Music Terms for education in order to develop editing material of Korean Music Terms, which are likely to be used for education. This study investigated the historical change of music and editing material of music, and suggested the direction of editing material development through problems, appearing in the existing music and the system and contents of editing material. Next, it examined the contents according to the division by setting the standard, dividing the Korean Music Terms, and suggested the composition form of material of Korean Music editing terms. Lastly, it suggested the most appropriate explanation by investigating the real concept and illustration of terms around 'Basic terms' and 'terms of Musical pieces', along with examining Chinese Characters, the Roman Alphabet, and English clarification, suitable for terms. Especially, in the selection of terms, educationally usable terms were selected and the standard form of Korean Music Terms was suggested by developing terms under the range of standard language among similar Korean Music Terms. This study comes to the result as followings: First, as a result of dividing Korean Music Terms according to the features, they are classified into 5; 'Basic terms', 'terms of Musical pieces', 'Instrument terms', 'Expression terms' and 'Relevant terms'. 'Basic terms' are terms related to the basic knowledge of Korean Music, 'terms of Musical pieces' are terms, related to the musical pieces, 'Instrument terms' are terms, related to instrument, and 'Expression terms' are related to the expression way of Korean Music. The range of 'Relevant terms' was deeply related with Korean Music. Among those terms, 'Basic terms' are subdivided in more detail according to the use of terms; 'Concept', 'Genre', 'Jangdan', 'Sigimsae and Vocalization', 'Playing method'. 'Performance formation', 'Form', 'Music Notation', 'a Player', 'Costumes', 'Dance instrument'. Second, in the process of classifying the Korean Music Terms, a lot of polysemy and similar words were found. Especially, we can discover that the terms, which were used in one meaning, was polysemy and they were fixed with meaning, different from the real meaning. Third, we could suggest the standard of foreign language transcription while investigating the foreign language transcription of Korean Music Terms such as the transcription of the Roman Alphabet, and English clarification. In case of transcription of the Roman Alphabet, direction to make words clear at maximum was sought. However, in English clarification, it was confirmed that there were Korean Music terms, which are difficult to translate in English and find the appropriate words. Therefore, we came to a conclusion that the minglement of Korean words and English is the most rational. This study has the limit in setting the entire Korean Music Terms as study object, and in case of in-depth English clarification and various terms, there is a deficiency in the investigation of meaning through the illustrations of real users. Accordingly, thorough following up study is required for the complement.

2007년 2윌에 개정 7차 교육과정이 고시되었다. 교육과정의 개정과 더불어 각 개정 시기에 편수 자료가 개발되어 교과 서 편찬의 기준으로 삼았는데, 이 편수 자료는 초ㆍ중등학교에서 사용하는 교과 교육 내용의 범위와 용어를 선정하는 데 중요한 기준이 되고 있다. 지금까지 제9집의 편수 자료가 개발되었으나 국악과 관련된 편수 자료 개발은 제9집에 이르러서야 겨우 시작되었다. 그렇지만 제 9집의 국악 편수 자료는 국악과 관련된 용어에서 외국어 표기가 전혀 제시 되어 있지 않았으며, 그 의미나 해설이 모호한 용어들이 제시된 경우가 있고, 용어들의 활용이 교육 현장에 적절한 지 에 대한 검토가 미흡한 것으로 보인다. 교육용 국악 용어의 정립과 더불어 개정 교육과 정에서는 교사가 교과서 이외 의 내용을 가르칠 때에도 참고하여 적용할 수 있는 국악 용어에 대한 편수 자료의 개발에 대한 요구도 높아지고 있다. 특히 중동학교는 물론이고 초등학교 음악 교과서까지 검정 체제로 가고 있는 개정 교육과정에서는 용어와 관련된 편 수 자료의 개발은 교과서의 질 관리상 매우 중요하다. 이에 본 연구는 국악 용어의 원래 의미와 적절한 용례를 고찰하 여 교육용 국악 용어를 선정한 후 그에 대한 적절한 해설을 하여 국악 용어 편수 자료를 개발함으로써 교육적으로 활 용할 수 있도록 국악 용어 편수 자료를 개발하게 되었다. 먼저, 현재까지 우리나라에서 발간된 음악과 교육과정과 교과서의 편수 업무와 관련된 자료를 수집하고 분석함으로써 음악과 편수 자료의 역사적 변천을 살펴보았으며, 기존 음악과 편수 자료의 체제와 내용 구성을 살펴보고 나타나는 문 제점과 편수 자료 개발 방향을 제시하였다. 그리고 국악 용어를 구분하는 기준을 정하고 이에 따라 구분된 영역의 구 체적인 내용을 진술하였고 국악 편수 용어 자료의 구성 형태를 모색하여 제시하였다. 마지막으로 편수 자료의 구성 형 태에 따라 필요한 자료를 탐색하였는데, 용어의 본래 개념과 용례를 고찰하여 가장 적합한 설명을 제시하고 용어에 알 맞은 한자어와 로마자 표기, 그리고 영어 풀이도 살펴 제시하였다. 더 나아가 이렇게 고찰한 내용을 바탕으로 구분별 용어의 선정 기준과 해당 내용을 구체적으로 설명하고 예시하였으며, 특히 개개 용어 선정에 있어서는 유사한 국악 용 어 중에서 교육적으로 활용 가능한 용어를 선정하거나 필요하다고 여겨질 때는 표준어를 기준으로 개발하여 국악 용 어의 표준안을 제시하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 내릴 수 있었다. 첫째, 국악 용어를 그 특성에 따라 구분한 결과 ‘기본 용어’, ‘익곡 용어’, ‘악기 용어’, ‘표현 용어’, ‘관련 용어’ 등 5가지 영역으로 나눌 수 있었다. ‘기본 용어’는 국악의 기본 지식과 관련된 용어이고, ‘악곡 용어’는 악곡과 관련된 용어, ‘악 기 용어’는 음악에 사용되는 악기와 관련된 용어, ‘표현 용어’는 국악의 표현법과 관련된 용어, ‘관련 용어’는 기타 국악 과 관련성이 깊은 용어로 범위를 정할 수 있었다. 이 중에서 ‘기본 용어’는 그 범위가 광범위하므로 다시 세분하여 용어 의 쓰임에 따라 ‘개념’, ‘갈래’, ‘장단’, ‘시김새 및 발성법’, ‘연주법’, ‘연주형태’, ‘형식’, ‘기보법’, ‘연주자’, ‘복식’, ‘의물’ 등으로 나눌 수 있었다. 국악 용어에 대한 연구가 부실한 현 시점에서 기본 지식과 관련된 ‘기본 용어’와 학습 제재곡과 관련된 ‘악곡 용어’ 개발이 보다 시급하고 중요함을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 국악 용어를 고찰하고 구분을 짓는 과정에서 다의어와 유사어가 많이 발견되었다. 특히 그동안 한 가지 의미로 만 사용되었던 용어가 다의어였다는 것과 본래의 의미와는 다른 의미로 고착된 용어도 더러 있었음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 용어에 대한 핵심적인 설명을 곁들이고 더불어 필요한 경우 그림까지 제시함으로써 용어의 종류뿐만 아니라 자 료로써의 역할을 하게 되었다. 용어에 대한 설명은 중요한 내용만 핵심적으로 제시함으로써 용어의 의미를 보다 명확 하게 하고 용어를 사용할 수 있는 경우를 분명하게 짚어 주었다. 넷째, 로마자 표기 및 영문 풀이 등 국악 용어의 외국어표기를 살펴보면서 외국어 표기의 기준을 제시할 수 있었다. 로 마자 표기의 경우는 국악 용어의 우리말 발음을 최대한 살릴 수 있는 방향으로 살펴보았다. 그러나 영어 풀이에서는 의미가 통하는 영어로 번역하기 어렵거나 적절한 영어를 찾기 어려운 국악 용어들이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 경우는 결국 우리말을 그대로 표기한 용어와 영어권에서 사용하는 영어를 혼용하는 방법이 가장 합리적이라는 결론을 내렸다. 본 연구에서 미흡한 점은 국악 용어 전체를 연구하지 못한 것과 영어 풀이의 섬도 있는 연구가 이루어지지 못한 것 그 리고 다의적인 용어의 경우 실제 사용자들의 용례를 통한 의미 고찰이 이루어지지 못한 것 등이다. 따라서 앞으로 본 연구에서 부족한 ‘기본 용어’와 악곡 용어‘에 대한 계속적인 연구뿐만 아니라 위와 같은 미흡한 부분에 있어서의 철저 한 후속 연구가 요구된다.
