This study was conducted to discuss the philosophical implications of Laban's movement analysis theory. Specifically, I have suggested that Laban's theory makes Foucault's embodied micro-power theory discussed more in-depth. Laban's theory may not be merely designed for artistic aesthetic discussion; the scalability of Laban's theory seems to have been latent since its inception. From the beginning, this theory was a co-creation of dance theorist and businessman. First of all, I have discussed “motion factors”, “effort elements” and “basic efforts” of Laban theory. After that, I have argued how Foucault's micro power could be explained by these three concepts. This discussion suggests fundamentally that the methodology of performing arts research can be applied in other academic fields as well.

본 연구는 라반의 움직임 분석 이론의 철학적 함의를 논의하기 위해 진행되었다. 구체적으로 연구자는 라반 이론이 푸코의 체화된 미시권력 이론을 한층 더 심층적으로 논의하게 만든다고 제안하였다. 무용이론가와 실업가의 공동 창작물이었던 라반 이론은 단순히 예술 미학적 논의만을 위해 고안된 것이 아니었고, 그것의 확장성은 태동할 때부터 잠재되어 있었다. 우선 라반 이론의 개념 중 ‘움직임 요소(motion factors)’, ‘에포트 성분(effort elements)’, 그리고 ‘기본 에포트(basic efforts)’에 관해서 논의하였다. 그런 후에, 푸코의 미시권력이 이 세 가지 개념으로 어떻게 설명될 수 있는지 살펴보았다. 이러한 논의는 근본적으로 공연예술연구 방법론이 기타 학문의 영역에서도 적용될 수 있다는 점을 시사한다.
