This study investigated cognitive function in 700 undergraduate students divided into a psychopathic trait and control group according to the scores of Psychopathic Personality Inventory-Revised. Thirty psychopathic trait subjects and 30 control subjects performed the WCST(Wisconsin Card Sorting Test), the stroop test, the trail-making test to measure executive functioning. The subjects performed the Korean-California Verbal Learning Test to examine verbal memory and performed the empathy task to assess empathy including social cognition. The subjects with psychopathic traits showed significantly higher scores than the controls in the number of trials administered, total number correct, total number of errors, perseverative responses, perseverative errors, nonperseverative errors, percent perseverative responses, and failure to maintain set of the WCST. The subjects with psychopathic traits showed significantly longer reaction times than the controls in the emotional empathy condition of the empathy task. These results suggest that individuals with psychopathic traits showed reduced executive function.

본 연구는 신경심리검사를 이용하여 정신병질 특성을 가진 사람들의 인지기능을 알아보았다. 700명의 대학생들을 대상으로 정신병질성격검사를 실시하여 그 점수에 따라 30명의 정신병질 특성집단과 30명의 통제집단을 선별하였다. 주의력을 평가하기 위해 숫자외우기검사를 실시하였고, 집행기능을 측정하기 위해 위스콘신카드분류검사, 스트룹검사, 선로잇기검사를 실시하였고, 언어기억과 언어학습능력을 평가하기 위해 K-CVLT검사를 실시하였으며, 사회인지 기능 중의 하나인 공감능력을 평가하기 위해 공감검사를 실시하였다. 위스콘신카드분류검사의 총 반응수, 정반응수, 총 오류수, 보속 반응수, 보속 오류수, 비 보속 오류수, 보속 반응율, 그리고 범주유지 실패의 항목에서 정신병질 특성집단이 통제집단에 비해 유의미하게 높은 값을 나타났다. 공감검사의 정서적 공감 조건에서 정신병질 특성집단이 통제집단 보다 정반응시간이 유의미하게 길게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 정신병질 특성을 가지고 있는 대학생들이 감소된 집행기능을 나타내고 정서적 공감에서 타인의 정서를 이해하는데 어려움이 있다는 것을 보여준다.
