Concerning the identity of university, this research suggests an integrated operation of leadership education, from the gender perspective, based upon surveys and FGI of students who had participated in Sookmyung Women’s university’s preliminary college program. Most of educational period till the high school, success criteria of learning for students have been just about how they sincerely take given contents. However, in the university, students by themselves should take the initiative for their learning from start to finish. Thus, in that preliminary college program, freshmen need to have a time to think about their life vision having their own identities as a university student for their successful campus life. Likewise, through this program, necessary is a support for their independent designing of campus life, reflecting the founding philosophy of each university and students’ their own dreams. Thus, this paper critically contemplates “Flames Program”, which was operated in researcher’s university as a preliminary college program, considering educational purpose of cultivating future women leaders, and emphasizes the necessity of self-leadership education. In conclusion, this research could confirm that if the program strengthens mentoring, which helps relationship building between senior and junior, and applies PBL, which enhance students-driven group’s cooperative learning, the educational effect can be more increased, while operating the preliminary college program that is designed to fulfill students’ requirements and expectation and to help their smooth adaptation to the university. In addition, this research points out that these kinds of new educational methods need to be more expanded, considering the fact that students can have a pride and a sense of belonging to the university through the preliminary college program, which eventually lead them to act as a leadership group with their experiences.

본고는 숙명여대 예비대학 사례연구로서 프로그램에 참여했던 학생들의 설문조사와 FGI 내용분석을 토대로, 예비대학이 신입생 교육의 측면에서 대학의 정체성을 고려한 기획과 교육 내용을 포함할 것을 제안하였다. 특히 자기관리 능력에 기반한 리더십 교육, 재학생 멘토링을 통한 선후배간의 네트워킹 강화, 학생중심의 교육방법과 인문학적 관심과 소양을 키워주는 교양교육의 차원과 연결될 필요가 있음을 강조하였다. 고등학교까지의 교육기간동안 대부분의 학생들이 주어진 내용을 얼마나 성실하게 수용하는가가 학습의 성공 기준이 되었다는 점에서 예비대학을 통해 대학교육에 대한 이해를 할 수 있도록 도와줄 필요가 있다. 대학 공부는 학생 스스로의 선택에 의해 주도적으로 이루어지는 과정이라는 점에서, 예비대학이 활성화되어 신입생들이 보다 효과적으로 대학생활을 시작할 수 있도록 자기 정체성을 갖고 교육에의 로드맵을 그려보는 자리가 되어야 할 것이다. 이에 개별대학의 건학이념과 학생 자신의 비전을 반영하여 대학생활을 주체적으로 설계해 볼 수 있도록 예비대학이 운영되는 것이 중요하다. 이에 본 연구자가 참여했던 예비대학 사례를 고찰하면서 미래 여성 리더 육성을 교육목표로 전체 과정에 대한 학생들의 만족도 평가결과를 고찰해 보고 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 결론적으로 예비대학은 신입생들이 주체적으로 대학생활을 시작할 수 있게 도와주는 수요자 중심의 활동이 되어야 함을 강조하였다. 이를 위해 일회성 행사로 그치지 않고 신입생들이 예비대학에 대한 요구 및 기대사항을 반영하여 효과적인 프로그램을 구성함으로써 대학생활의 안착을 돕는 것이다. 이를 위해 신입생이 재학생들과의 관계 형성을 돕는 선배 멘토링을 강화하고, 학생이 교육 주체가 되어 공부할 수 있도록 동료간의 협동학습을 활성화하는 문제중심학습과 같은 방식을 적용할 경우 교육 효과가 높아질 수 있는 가능성을 찾아볼 수 있었다. 예비대학을 이수한 학생들과의 심층면담을 통해 참여했던 학생들이 소속 대학에 대한 자부심을 갖게 됨으로써 향후 보다 효과적인 대학생활로 이어지고 있다는 점에서, 신입생 교양교육 차원에서 보다 체계화된 시스템을 갖추어 교육과정이 확대될 필요가 있음을 강조하였다.
