In this paper, the researcher explored Shin Dong Yeop's writer consciousness and subjects appeared in and tried to reveal the relevance of the poet, his works and Donghak spirit. Shin Dong Yeop is a poet who forming a large stem of our poetry in the 1960s, and recognized as leading writers of Korean participant poets with Kim Soo Young, by published works that present contemporary challenges based on subjective historical perceptions and historical facts. Several his works such as long epic which is known as a masterpiece have contained the basic idea of Donghak such as ‘Innaecheon(Me and the universe trinity)’. The results of this paper, through the study of the writer consciousness and the subject of the works, showed that his works had been projected 'Gaebyeok' spirit on the basis of innovativeness and eternity. And after reviewing his works focusing on writer consciousness which is the base of making works, the researcher I found Donghak's ideal country construction spirit that features on homing instinct and the ideas of this life that constructs heaven in the ground. And the poet's attempts to lyrical innovation for exploring new genres such as the feature-length epic was taken a look. Mix-up of the genre that is characterized by lyrical type of narrative deployment were combined organic rather than a simple copolymer, where relevance with Donghak spirit attempted to explore the creative grope based on reality could be found.

이 논문에서 연구자는 신동엽의 작가 의식과 <이야기하는 쟁기꾼의 대지>에 나타난 주제를 탐구함으로써 시인, 그리고 시인의 작품과 동학 사상과의 관련성을 밝히고자 하였다. 신동엽은 1960년대 우리 시단의 큰 줄기를 형성한 시인으로, 역사에 대한 주체적 인식과 역사적 사실을 토대로 시대적 과제를 제시하는 작품을 발표해서 김수영과 함께 우리나라 참여 시인의 대표적인 작가로 평가 받고 있다. 시인의대표작으로 알려진 장편 서사시 <금강> 등 그의 여러 작품에 ‘인내천’ 등 동학의 기본 사상이 담겨 있기도 한다. 이 논문을 통해 작품의 주제와 작가의식을 연구한 결과, 그의 작품에는 혁신성과영원성을 토대로 하는 ‘개벽정신’이 투영되어 있었다. 그리고 작품 생성의 토대가 되는 작가 의식을 중심으로 검토한 결과 회귀성과 지상에서의 천국을 건설한다는 현세성을 특징으로 하는 동학적 이상국가의 정신을 발견할 수 있었다. 또한, 장편 서사시 등 새로운 장르에 대한 모색으로 서정시의 혁신을 시도한 시인의 시도를 살폈다. 서정적 형식의 서사적 전개를 특징으로 하는 장르의 혼효는 단순 합체가 아닌유기적 결합이었으며, 여기서 현실을 토대로 창조적 모색을 시도한 동학 정신과의연관성을 발견할 수 있었다.
