Kim, Hyun’s criticism has been praised as a empathic criticism. This fact implies the special meaning of emotion. Kim, Hyun attached a great importance to emotion the center of the criticism, not regarding only the minor emotion as literary response. In his novel criticism, we can found the mechanism that such emotion are created and embodied in accordance with the structure of novel genre. Kim, Hyun expressed a variety of emotions experienced in the process of reading novel to criticism text. Kim, Hyun’s novel criticism showed us the empathic attitude to the author, the character, and the reader. Kim, Hyun proved that the attitude of empathic criticism is to content as well as form. Such emotions of hospitality, suspicion, and friendship was actively functioning in the course of his criticism. Kim, Hyun, while placed such emotions in the center of the criticism, by maintaining an attitude of reflecting it continuously, has showed us the world of aesthetic play balancing emotional expression and its’ reflection. Considering his criticism life and his era, the figures of emotional communication has the value of political nature countering the closed world. In short, Kim, Hyun has tried to find the reason of criticism in the emotions of literature regared as a more human value.
