The purpose of this study was to examine the roles of Japanese language teachers in cyber universities of Korea, and contemplate on the qualifications and abilities that the teachers need to have to play the roles. The study results are as follows. The main roles of Japanese language teachers in the e-learning contents production process are deciding types and functions of contents, making lecture drafts, filming and recording lectures, and inspecting the results. And the qualifications and abilities that the teachers need to have to play the roles are the material development ability, information collection ability related to contents, compromising ability, Korean language communication ability, autonomy, flexibility, precision, and self-reflection.
