Church is a called-out and called unto people. Church is in nature a missional and educational community called to carry out the reconciliating ministry of Jesus Christ. A part of educational ministry is the mission training. Christian education co-works with mission from its beginning to its end. The major part of ministry and education of church is the interpretation of believers' vocations as their obligation in which they witnesses to the world and obey God. It was evident that the vitality of early Korean church lied on its care for the isolated, the formation of believer's community, and the transformation of society by the power of gospel. To evangelize is to spread the good news that Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead according to the Scriptures, and that as the reigning Lord he now offers the forgiveness of sins and the liberating gift of the Spirit to all who repent and believe. This paper presented the desirable direction of the education and mission in Korean church. It discussed the understanding of Christian education and mission, the mission as the ministry of Christian education, the direction of Christian education and mission in Korean church, and the Christian education as the praxis of mission. Church exists in society and the reason for its existence resides in function for the society. Although the social action of church is not directly connected to mission, and political emancipation does not mean salvation directly, social and political participation of church is another obligation of Christians as well as mission. We have to definitely pay more attention to mission than social and political participations. Therefore, we conclude that the Korean church is to train the believers through Christian education as whole person adjusting to the community and serving the task of mission.

교회는 불러냄을 받은 공동체이며, 동시에 세상을 향해 부름 받은 공동체이다. 교회는 그리스도의 화목케 하시는 사역을 수행하도록 부르심을 받은 선교와 교육의 공동체이다. 교육사역의 한 부분은 선교훈련이다. 기독교교육은 선교의 시작에서 완성까지 함께 한다. 목회와 교육의 주요한 부분은 자신의 직장 가운데서 그리스도인으로서 증거하고 하나님께 순종하는, 그의 책임 있는 활동으로서의 평신도의 사명들에 대한 해석이어야 한다. 초기 한국교회의 생명력은 복음과 소외계층의 만남, 신자 공동체의 창출, 그리고 복음에 의한 사회변혁에 있었다. 본 논문은 기독교교육과 선교에 대한 이해, 기독교교육의 사역으로서의 선교, 한국교회 기독교교육의 방향과 선교, 선교의 실제로서의 기독교교육에 대해 논하였다. 교회는 사회 속에 존재하고 있고 사회를 위해 존재할 때, 있어야 할 이유를 갖게 되는 것이다. 사회적 행동이 곧 전도는 아니며 정치적 해방이 곧 구원이 아닐지라도 선교와 사회, 정치적 참여는 우리 그리스도인의 의무의 두 가지 부분이다. 교회가 사회참여를 하는 것은 참여하는 그 영역에 대한 관심 그 자체보다는 그것에 대한 그리스도 정신의 실현에 목적이 있다. 물론 사회참여로서의 선교개념은 복음화로서의 개념을 우선 전제하고, 그것에 충실할 때에 의미가 있는 것이다. 한국교회는 바른 기독교교육을 통해 전인격적인 신앙인으로서, 그리고 하나님 나라의 백성으로서 개인적인 삶과 더불어 공동체적인 삶을 의식하고 선교직무에 헌신하는 일꾼들을 양성해 나아가야 한다.
