The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers‘ request intents and strategies and children’s responsive strategies. The subjects were twenty teachers and twenty 4- and 5-year-old children. All the interactions between the teachers and children during free play were observed and transcribed for the analysis.
The results of this study are summarized as following: 1) The teachers requested in the order of behavioral intent, informational intent, and opinion intent. 2) The request strategies of teachers showed in the order of direct request, indirect request, and physical request. Furthermore the teachers' intents were related with their strategies. 3) Children's responsive strategies were mostly compliance or noncompliance regardless of the teachers' request strategies. The children were likely to comply especially when the teachers request directly.

본 연구는 교사의 요구의도 및 요구전략과 이에 대한 유아의 반응전략을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다． 연구대상은 4, 5세 유치원 교사 20명과 그들이 담당하고 있는 유아들이다． 교사의 요구의도는 행동， 정보， 견해 요구 순서로， 요구전략은 직접적 요구， 간접적 요구， 기타， 물리적 요구의 순서로 나타났으며， 요구의도는 요구전략과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다． 한편 유아의 반응전략은 교사의 요구전략에 상관없이 수용적 반응인 경우가 대부분이었다． 교사의 요구전략이 간접적일 때 보다 직접적일 때， 유아의 수용적 반응은 높았고 거부적 반응은 낮았다．
