This study is an analytical study on the educational needs to improve college students’s speech competence of Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts as a part of a study on the speech education in colleges. The findings of this research are as below. Firstly, the survey shows that students need educational contents such as ‘speech anxiety(fear) factor’and ‘voice(vocal) factor’ most preferentially to improve their speech competence. Secondly, professors give a priority to ‘contents(quality) factor’ and ‘audience factor’ for speech competence. Thirdly, comparing the students’ educational needs with those of professors reveals a significant perceived gap. Lastly, it is shown that educators think less of students current competence and more of educational needs of speech than students do. According to the results analyzed above, it can be said that this study is positive verification on what contents of education should come first in a curriculum to improve college students’s speech competence of Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts.

이 연구는 전문대학의 스피치 교육에 대한 연구의 일환으로 동아방송예술대학교 학생들의 스피치 능력 향상을 위한 교육 요구도를 분석한 것이다. 특히, 교육 수요자인 대학생과 함께 교수자도 대상으로 조사를 실시함으로써 학생들의 현재 스피치 능력과 교육 내용 필요도를 좀 더 면밀히 분석하여 향후 스피치 교육을 설계하는 데 실질적인 근거를 제공하고자 하였다. 스피치 교육에 대한 기존 연구가 주로 효과적인 측면에만 집중되어 있는 것을 생각했을 때, 스피치 교육에 참여하는 교수와 학생의 요구도 분석은 향후 스피치 교육 연구에도 반드시 필 요하다고 생각한다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들은 본인의 스피치 능력을 향 상시키기 위해 ‘스피치 불안 요인’과 ‘음성적 요인’에 대한 교육 내용을 가장 필요로 하는 것 으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 교수들은 학생들의 스피치 능력 향상을 위해 ‘내용적 요인’과 ‘청중 요인’과 관련된 교육이 가장 우선되어야 한다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학생과 교 수 두 집단의 스피치 교육 요구도를 비교한 결과, 상당한 인식 차이가 드러났다. 넷째, 교수들 은 학생들보다 현재 스피치 능력은 더 낮게, 스피치 교육의 필요도는 더 높게 인식하고 있었 다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 이 연구에서는 향후 동아방송예술대학교 학생들의 스피치 능력을 향상시키기 위하여 관련 교육과정에서 우선적으로 고려해야 할 교육 내용이 무엇인지를 실증적으로 검증할 수 있었다.
