Through the development of the scientific techniques and the Internet technology the aspect of the communal life has faded away in our modern society where individualism and materialism are evidently prevalent. During the period of adolescence quite involved in the core of the sudden and rapid social changes it is natural that the juveniles should go through a lot of physical and social transitions and that they should also play their own roles, socially and individually, even though they are not mature enough to undertake them.
Responding to such demands from the society and the changing times, it is being emphasized than ever that the personality education is necessary or even inevitable in school education. Now that the adolescent students are generally or primarily educated through the curriculums in school system, it is considered more effective that the personality education should take place in the course of daily routines of school, which is certainly beyond its own limits under the circumstances of the entrance exam-oriented school system in Korea. In a way to make it more effective or efficient, Chinese-Writing are in no way inferior as the curriculum of personality education, given that its content includes ancestors' wisdoms of life, Confucian values, Chinese literature, and so on. Consequently, it is essential that we should study on the ways to have students develop desirable moral personalities and heathy senses of values by teaching Chinese-Writing.
There are several methods of developing moral characters available at school such as special programs, special activities, practical living guidance, consultations, and so forth. Above all, however, the personality education through Chinese-Writing curriculum should be the most effective in that most of school education stems from the forms of curriculums. Besides, it is told that the ultimate purpose of Chinese-Writing education is aimed at students' building up both the healthy senses of values and the desirable moral characters. Through the analysis on 10 High School Chinese-Writing textbooks published by different publishers a total of 95 moral principles were found in all these 10 different textbooks: 11 factors on culture of aesthetic sentiments for mental development, 56 factors on culture of values for self-realization, and 28 factors for culture of morality for communal life.
The final goal of personality education lies on the internalization of morality. School students should be given chances to perform practical behaviors on their own such as the foundation of values through group thoughts, activities of experiencing what they've learned, field trips of realization, and the like.

과학 기술과 인터넷의 발달로 인해 개인주의와 물질 만능주의가 팽배 한 현대 사회에서 공동체적 삶은 퇴색되었다． 급변하는 시대의 중심에 휘 말려 있는 청소년기는 신체적， 사회적 측면에서 많은 변화를 겪는 시기이며， 충분히 성숙하지 못한 상태에서 다양한 역할을 수행해야 하는 시기이다． 이러한 시대적 변화와 사회적 요청에 따라 어느 때보다도 학교에서 인성교육의 필요성이 강조되고 있다． 청소년기는 주로 학교의 교육과정을 통하여 교육이 이루어지므로 학교의 일과 내에서 좋은 인성을 갖도록 지도 하는 것이 효과적이다． 그러나 우리나라의 입시 위주의 교육 환경으로 인해 학교교육에서의 인성교육은 한계를 가진다． 한문교과의 내용은 선인들의 삶의 지혜와 유교적 가치， 문학 등으로 구성되어 한문교과가 인성교육의 교재로서 손색이 없다． 따라서 한문교육을 통하여 건전한 가치관과 바람직한 인성을 함양하고자 하는 연구가 필요하다． 학교에서의 인성교육은 특별 프로그램， 특별활동, 생활지도， 면담 등 여러 형태로 운영될 수 있지만， 학교생활의 대부분은 교과교육으로 이루어지므로 교과를 통한 인성교육이 가장 효과적이다． 특히 한문교과는 궁극적 목표를 건전한 가치관과 바람직한 인성 함양에 두고 있다． 10개 출판사의 고등학교 한문 교과서에서 인성 덕목을 추출하여 분석한 결과， 심적 발달을 위한 정서교육 덕목이 11개， 자아실현을 위한 가치교육 덕목이 56개, 공동체적 삶을 위한 도덕교육 덕목이 28개로서 95가지의 인성교육을 위한 덕목을 찾아볼 수 있었다． 인성교육의 궁극적 목표는 도덕성의 내면화이다． 이를 위해 집단적 사고를 통한 가치관의 정립， 학습한 내용을 체득하게 하는 활동， 현장 체험 학습 등 실질적인 행동을 유발할 수 있는 기회를 마련해 주어야 한다.
