The purpose of this study was to analyze current research trends related to the primary health and fitness and suggest evolutionary directions which health and fitness research should pursue. For this purpose, national research of about 40 pieces and overseas research about 20 pieces were conducted content analysis method in terms of research topics. Findings were as follows: Previous studies have been categorized as research for improving health and fitness, programs about health and fitness, and research to understand the fitness-related situation. Limitations of previous research categorized alienation from practical curriculum, overlooked needs of learners, and failure to notice the character education. Developmental direction of future research related health and fitness were presented the provision of health education for the interests and needs of learners, the introduction of teacher education which is needed for establishment of practical curriculum, and the efforts of the field and academia to capture the students' personality changes that participate in health activities.

본 연구의 목적은 초등에서 이루어진 건강 및 체력 관련 연구 동향을 분석하고 이를 토대로 미래 건강 및 체력 관련 연구가 지향해야 할 발전적인 방향성을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 2000년대 들어 건강 및 체력과 관련하 여 초등에서 이루어진 국내 연구 40여 편, 국외 연구 20여 편을 대상으로 연구 주제 측면에서 내용분석을 실시하 였다. 연구 결과, 선행연구들은 크게 건강 및 체력 향상을 위한 연구, 건강 및 체력 프로그램에 관한 연구, 건강 및 체력 관련 실태 파악 연구의 세 가지로 범주화되었으며, 초등학생의 건강 및 체력 향상을 위한 연구가 지배적 이었다. 범주화된 연구들을 교육적 실천 관점에서 검토한 결과 선행연구의 한계점으로 실천적 교육과정과의 괴리, 학습자의 요구에 대한 간과, 인성교육적 측면의 소홀을 도출해낼 수 있었다. 초등 건강 및 체력 관련 연구의 발 전 방향으로는 학습자들의 관심과 요구에 부합하는 건강교육의 제공, 교사 수준의 실천적 교육과정의 정착에 필 요한 교사교육의 도입, 건강 및 체력 활동에 참여하는 학생들의 인성적 변화를 포착하기 위한 현장과 학계의 노 력을 제시하고자 한다.
