This manuscript analyzes current Japanese high school text that were approved in 2013 to find out how territorial disputes are educated in Japan. In order to do so, it examines, firstly, content of the class guidance strategy and explanation, and then territory education on Dokdo, South Kuril Islands, and Senkaku policies through educational texts. Research of the Japanese educational texts has to start with the understanding on class guidance strategy and its explanation. This is because its functions serve a similar purposes in Korea. This manuscript firstly analyze class guidance strategy and its explanation, then compared the two narratives. As a result, class guidance strategy and its explanations on the territorial disputes reflect the conservative swing of the Japanese government, and this has started since 1979 in the geography field. Also, narratives on territorial disputes started with the 'issue of jurisdiction' and gradually strengthened to 'original territory.' This research has its significance in examining the change of narratives of territorial disputes in Japanese history educational texts in the controversy on the recent examination of middle school history texts especially in relation to territorial disputes.

본고에서는 2013년 검정 통과된 현행 고등학교 일본사 교과서를 분석의 대상으로 삼아 일본에서는 영 토교육을 어떻게 실시하고 있는가를 밝히려고 한다. 이를 위해 우선 학습지도요령과 학습지도요령해설 의 내용을 살핀 후 고등학교 일본사 교과서의 독도, 남쿠릴열도, 센카쿠제도 등의 영토교육에 대해 살 펴본 것이다. 일본의 역사교과서에 대한 연구의 선행조건은 학습지도요령과 학습지도요령해설에 대한 이해에서 출 발해야 한다고 생각된다. 이는 우리나라의 교육과정과 교육과정해설과 유사한 기능을 하기 때문이다. 본고에서는 영토문제에 대한 학습지도요령과 학습지도요령해설을 우선 분석하고 이를 교과서의 서술 과 비교하였다. 그 결과 영토문제에 대한 학습지도요령과 학습지도요령해설은 일본정부의 우경화를 반영하고 있으며, 1979년 지리분야에서 비로소 시작되었음을 확인할 수 있다. 그리고 일본 교과서의 영토문제에 대한 서 술은 ‘귀속문제’가 있다는 정도의 서술에서 시작되어 고유영토설로 점차 강화되었음을 알 수 있다. 최근 일본 정부의 중학교 역사교과서 검정에 대한 논란이 큰 가운데서 본고는 일본의 역사교과서의 영토문 제 서술의 변천을 살피는데 의미가 있을 것이라 기대한다.
