Study on Judging Occupational Accidents by Work Stress and Psychological Autopsy

As the current society’s pace of change and development has expedites the additional workload and need for expertise is advancing. The internal and external interpersonal relationship in the business are also complicated and formed multilaterally, increasing the degree of stress rapidly in the resulting trend. The stress in work are giving a large impact in the life and family of the worker. Brain and cardiovascular disease, mental disorder, insomnia, sleep disorder, and depression are the main disasters that are induced by overworking. However, even when the worker has mental and psychological problems that are caused by stress, because of the society’s prejudices, mental treatment or counseling cannot be received from work or exterior sources and when the degree becomes more severe some choose to take the extreme decision of suicide. For those who have actually chosen suicide, the ending decisions of the court was mostly that it cannot be recognized as an industrial accident. One cause of this is because the court’s criteria is vague and does not determine the perspective of the each individual worker that are the victim. The court’s rule was determined by utilizing the ‘psychological autopsy’. The ‘psychological autopsy’ is the scientific and medical analysis of the suicide victim’s perspective and discovers the source allowing the court’s decision standard to be more accurate.
