This study aims at appreciating quality level and at discussing improvement policy of regional inhabitant’s life. Targeting at Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, this study, through questionnaire investigation, analyzed quality of life conditions and presented improvement policy quality of life, centering on perceptional value and expectational value of responders. Generally speaking, the life level of Gumi-si inhabitants was improved a lot, compared with the past. The following policies are demanded for the improvement of life quality in the future. First, as for the general condition, it is necessary to consider the conditions of self-governing and participation, the conditions of leisure activity, security, civil administration, and health and welfare services. Second, as for the social condition, educational institution is insufficient. So, it is necessary to increase the educational institution on the purpose of erasing the inconvenience. Third, as for the economic condition, it is necessary to maintain abundant natural resources. In addition, it is necessary to activate regional economy through securing national public fund. Fourth, as for the environmental condition, the water quality is excellent, but the water quantity is not sufficient so much. So, it is necessary to have a concernment on securing water quantity, preparing for population increase.

본 연구는 지역주민의 삶의 질 수준을 평가하고, 삶의 질 향상 방안을 논의한 것이다. 연구대상지역은 경상북도 구미시이고, 설문조사를 통해 조사응답자들의 인지값과 기대값을 중심으로 삶의 질 요인을 분석하고 삶의 질 향상방안을 제시하였다. 전체적으로 구미시의 삶의 질 수준은 과거에 비해 많이 향상된 것으로 이해되며 향후 보다 더 QOL을 증진시키기 위해 다음과 같은 전략이 요구된다. 첫째 일반적 요인은 지방자치 및 참여여건, 여가활동여건, 치안, 민원행정, 보건복지서비스 등에 관심을 가져야 한다. 둘째, 사회적 요인은 교육기관이 다소 부족한 것으로 인식되며, 이에 대한 향상을 도모할 필요가 있으며, 인구밀도가 다소 높아져 불편을 겪는 부분도 해소시켜 나가야 할 것이다. 셋째, 경제적 요인은 자연자원은 우수하기 때문에 지속적으로 유지하며 국가공공자금 확보를 통해 지역경제 활성화를 도모할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 환경적 요인은 수질상태 등은 우수한 것으로 평가되지만, 식수량의 충분성은 약한데, 향후 구미시는 인구증가로 인한 식수량 확보에 관심을 가져야 할 것이다.
