The Effects of Empathy Training Program based the Group Play Therapy on elementary student's Empathy Ability

The Purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the empathy training program based the group play therapy on elementary student's empathy ability. The subjects of this study were 4 Classes(113 students) from sixth grade of C elementary school. The program was composed 30 peer group activities for 2 sessions with 100 minutes. The quantitative results of this study are as follows: First, compared to the cognitive empathy, affective empathy showed a significant improvement. Second, compared to the higher empathy scores classroom, the lower scores classroom showed a significant improvement. These results informs us that the empathy training program based the group play therapy has effects in improving the empathy ability and sub-factors of affective empathy included cognitive empathy.
