The purpose of this study was to develop a smart-based digital textbook for climate change education for higher grade students in elementary school. To achieve this goal, some implications were derived from preceding studies on digital textbooks/related literature and climate change education, and needs of teachers analyzing. Based on these implications, digital textbook for upper graders of the elementary school was developed. The results of this study were as follows:First, this study developed a digital textbook for smart equipment-based climate change education for higher grade students in elementary school. Second, the developed digital textbook consists of four sessions regarding the phenomena of climate changes, causes for climate changes, effects of climate changes and measures for climate changes, based on literature and curriculum analysis on climate change education. Third, the textbook was designed in consideration of goals such as knowledge, behavior and value on climate changes, to deal with climate changes and internalize those behaviors. Fourth, the textbook contains various multimedia contents like videos, images, animations, pictures, interactive images and assessment materials to arouse learning motivations, and helps students strengthen their capabilities to deal with climate changes by exploring the phenomena of climate changes, understanding the causes for climate changes and finding behaviors to deal with them by themselves. In conclusion, it would be required to concretely study the differences from existing textbooks, since this study only conducted the pilot text for verifying the effect of the developed digital textbook. Moreover, there would a need for further research on the development of diverse digital textbooks for environmental education for elementary school students in the smart-based digital age.

본 연구는 초등학교 고학년 학생에게 지구 기후변화에 대한 현상, 원인, 영향, 대응에 대한 이해와 행 동적 실천을 통하여 환경 친화적 생활을 내면화하기 위한 디지털 교과서 개발이라는 목적에서 진행 되었다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 기후변화교육을 위한 디지털 교과서에 대한 초등학교 교사 의 요구조사를 실시하였으며, 도출된 시사점을 바탕으로 디지털 교과서를 개발하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 개발된 디지털 교과서는 기후변화교육을 스마트기기를 통해 활용할 수 있도록 개발하였다. 기 후변화교육에 대한 문헌, 교육과정 분석을 토대로 기후변화 현상, 원인, 영향, 대응의 4개 차시로 구 성하였다. 둘째, 교과서 내용은 기후변화 대응 행동을 실천하고 내면화하기 위하여 기후변화에 대한 지식, 행동 , 가치 등의 목표를 고려하여 구성하였다. 셋째, 학생들의 학습동기를 유발하기 위하여 다양한 동영상, 이미지, 애니메이션, 사진, 상호대화형 이미지, 평가 자료 등의 멀티미디어 콘텐츠로 이루어져 있으며, 초등학생들의 생활 반경 내에서 기후 변화에 대한 현상을 찾아서, 기후변화의 원인을 이해하고, 대응 행동을 스스로 찾아 실천해 보는 과 정을 통해, 기후변화에 대응하기 위한 실천역량을 강화하도록 구성하였다.
