The purpose of this study was to investigate the implementation effects of direct instruction reading intervention within a RtI framework. Using DIBELS Next as the universal screener for CBM, eight first grade students identified as below or well below benchmark and confirmed to be at risk for reading difficulties by their classroom teachers. Supplemental direct instruction began early in the semester(October), following the direct method for beginning Tier 2 support. Intervention sessions occurred within the classrooms for a minimum of 40 minutes, two times a week. EPACC and RM-FC were the Tier 2 interventions implemented in addition to the core curriculum. Intervention sessions were taught by a faculty researcher as the principal investigator (PI). Outcomes from the end of the year first grade DIBELS Next were compared to the grade-level means for the sample. Individual student scores indicated that students progressed and some improved during the intervention periods. Implications for pre-service teachers and teacher educators were discussed.

본 연구의 목적은 읽기부진아를 대상으로 반응-중재(RtI) 효과를 조사하는 것이다. 교육과정 기반 측정에 있어서 보편적 판별 도구인 DIBELS Next를 사용하여 본 연구의 대상자인 초등학교 1학년 학생 8명이 기준점 이하 혹은 최저점으로 판별되었고 교사들에 의해서도 읽기에 어려움이 있는 위험 수준으로 확인이 되었다. 중재는 학기 시작 무렵(10월)에 이루어졌는데, RtI 수준 2의 시작에 맞는 직접교수 방법을 적용하였다. 중재는 일 주일에 2번, 40분씩 교실에서 이루어졌다. 중재는 일차 연구자인 동료 연구원에 의해 주요 교육과정 수업 이외에 EPACC와 RM-FC가 RtI 수준 2에서 이루어졌다. 일 학년 마지막에 DIBELS Next에서 얻어진 CBM 측정은 전체점수(DCS)와 하위 요인(NWF-CLS, NWF-WWR, DORF-CW, and DORF-A) 점수와 학년 평균 점수와 비교 하였고, 또한 학년 시작(10월), 중간(1월), 그리고 마지막(5월) 시점에서의 이들의 진전을 그래프로 제시하였다. 개별 학생의 점수는 진전되었고 특히 중재 기간 동안 변화한 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구의 논의점 및 예비교사와 교사들을 위한 시사점도 제시되었다.
