The purpose of this study was to develop and implement a class-based group counseling program to improve interpersonal relationship ability for high school students and to validate its effect on them. The following research questions are developed in order to achieve the aforementioned purpose. First, how should a class-based group counseling program be developed to improve interpersonal relationship abilities of high school students? Secondly, what effects does the class-based group counseling program achieve on improving interpersonal relationship abilities of high school students? For this research, the first-year students in G high school located in Gyeong-gi-do province participated and were divided into two groups of 30 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group respectively. For data processing, 'Mixed ANOVA' technique of SPSS/Windows 12 was used to analyze statistical results. There were significant improvements in interpersonal relationship abilities of the experimental group who had taken part in the counseling program when compared to the control group.

본 연구의 목적은 고등학생의 대인관계능력 향상을 위한 학급단위 집단상담 프로그램을 구안하여 적용하고 그 효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 프로그램의 구안과정은 박인우(1995)의 상담 프로그램 개발 모형의 과정을 거쳤으며, 이론전문가와 현장전문가의 자문을 바탕으로 수정․보완하여 총 11회기로 구성된 최종프로그램을 구안하였다. 경기도 소재 G고등학교 1학년 학생들 중 2개 학급을 대상으로 실험집단(30명)과 통제집단(30명)을 구성하여 프로그램의 효과를 검증하였다. 검사도구는 Schlein과 Guerney의 ‘관계성 변화 척도’를 문선모가 우리 실정에 맞도록 번안한 대인관계능력 검사를 사용하였다. 자료처리는 혼합변량분석(Mixed ANOVA)으로 통계적 분석과 집단원들의 회기별 경험보고서와 상담자의 관찰 내용을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 집단상담 프로그램에 참여한 실험집단의 대인관계능력이 통제집단보다 유의하게 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 또한 내용분석에서도 실험집단 참가자들이 긍정적인 반응을 보인 것으로 나타나 본 프로그램이 고등학생의 대인관계능력을 높이는데 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.
